Someone help with this one. Why is it that the Trinity fans seem to be so upset with this game? You are not Lexington Catholic or MBA.

 

Do you not want Dunbar to play this game against MBA? Do you want Dunbar to play Lexington Catholic first? I'm not getting why you are so upset with this?

 

Has Dunbar stolen some Trinity thunder by playing a team that you always play? Trinity has nothing to do with the boycott and Trinity is aloud to play any FCPS in the regular season. Why are you guys so upset?

The thing that gets me is boycott or no boycott, the football teams, players and coaches aren't neccessarily the ones who are stopping the public schools from playing the privates. Dunbar, just got a new staff last season, the "boycott " has been going on for a while. They have nothing to do with it, yet people are trying to make the football program into some kind of bad guys as though they started the whole thing.. Also, as far as MBA goes, they found a loophole in the scheduling and IMO are smart to exploit it. I am a supporter of those who oppose the boycott, but feel that most of bashing in this thread is so far off base it isn't funny. Somebody waved the Privates vs. the world banner and people came running without thinking it thru IMO.

There is no comparison between Guru's comments, which posed a legitimate question and raised some legitimate points, and your posturing and sniping.

What I don't like on here is this divided nature of public vs. private. Football is football no matter what school you go to. Dunbar's coaching staff has some ties with MBA and together they put a football game together. MBA doesn't think that since they are private they can't play a Lexington Public school. That's not how scheduling works.

 

For years Louisville private schools have been bashing FCPS for playing the weak opponents and calling the FCPS every name in the book. Now Dunbar has stepped up and is playing a major opponent and you still put them down. I really don't think that is fair to players, coaches and parents of Dunbar.

When the respective administrations at Dunbar, Henry Clay, Lafayette, Tates Creek and any other public high school in Lexington that I missed publically state for the record that they oppose the cowardly boycott and schedule LexCath in either football or boys basketball it will continue. If they were truly worried how it impacted the kids (I frankly don't care about the coaches, they are adults, they can speak up) then it would not happen in the first place.

With all due respect All Tell you act like if your were a head coach of one of these FCPS teams that playing Lexington Catholic would be your main goal. I think Dunbar wants a 4A state title or that is their goal and they are playing MBA which is a great game for them. Dunbar or Lexington Catholic's number one goal is not to play one another. Coaches, players and parents won't go around complaining publicly for a Catholic vs. FCPS game because it's a waste of time. Even if they do play it would be a very good gate but the following week they would either play another non district opponent or go on to their seperate districts. Both of these teams have bigger goals than playing one another. Yea, I agree it would be nice but it isn't that big of a deal.

Really? Proove it. This post is more of the rediculous argument. How are they "your players" if your a public school. Last time I checked the kids parents have legal guardianship over their kids. Their parents are making a decision where to send them to school. How come when kids go to college their parents don't have to send them to schools in their district? Because they are afforded the opportunity to choose what is best for their child. The same standard should be applied in high school. Now if you want to times there inrollment by 1.5 because of the obvious advantage they have in drawing players, then I would say ok. But untill you PROVE an allegation of wrong doing, don't state it as fact. I think this whole middleschool district thing is garbage myself and I hope it doesn't pass. Their are enough laws on the books to deal with these issues. And adding my suggestion would all but eliminate that advantage IMO.

I really could care less, other than the fact that MBA will have already played a highly competitive game, and traveled...before they play us.

With all due respect Golfer every school in Lexington will lose an amount of respect as long as this silly boycott continues because it will always give the impression that they are dodging superior competition. In the public/private thread it has been brought up that the impression is that the private schools are doing something wrong and that impression is all that's needed to demand change. The same applies here.

 

And FWIW I could care less who Dunbar does or doesn't play. I just think it shows a level of hypocricy to play a school like MBA under the guise of playing strong competition to get better while dodging a very good program in the same city.
