St. Xavier 27 Central 13

Central was in the game for the whole first quarter then the tide changed. Walker played first half and Davis played second. Nagle was benched in favor of I believe soph qb Noah houk, who came in and threw 2 td passes.

H'mmmm....not what I expected heading in to district play.......X has work to do (so do we, no doubt).....it may just come down to coaching.

The best coaching decision of the season might have been benching Nagle.

I hope it was permanent and not for the night. Because a couple starters didn't play the whole game.

Houk is a junior and was the heir apparent at QB until Nagle transferred in. His father led the Tigers to the 1986 State Championship.

I am guessing with the struggles of the transfer QB many might be thinking he was over hyped coming into the season?

Ok I thought he was the junior. As I stated in the update thread, I was told his father is also the qb coach.

:isurrender: after I saw him play week 1 vs Ballard, I knew nothing good would come out of him being the starting qb.

I would pay real money to be a fly on the wall at this weeks coaches meetings.

Ex-NFL player #1 and assistant coach: I didn't relocate my family from Memphis so my son could ride the bench.

Ex-NFL player #2 and head coach: I didn't use my money and influence to get this job so I could listen to people second guess me about the starting QB.

This has the makings of a great week in Tiger land.

Yeesh.....what a dynamic. I hope they like each other.

If Nagel was as good as advertise I think he would already have some significant offers.

Interesting turn out, but not totally shocked by the game. It will be an interesting staff meeting this, but at the end of the day the HC has to do what is best for the TEAM.

I don't disagree but aren't both men "blessed" with rather large egos? Could be very interesting indeed.

They will get it all sorted out. Have plenty of time. It's not like there is anything going on this week. May work to their advantage.

GAME SUMMARY

Houk looked real good. Looked poised and confident out there with the 1's

Davis sat out first half for disciplinary reasons. Then played well second half

Walker took an absolute cheap shot to the thigh after an X punt and could not contribute thereafter. Should have been a personal foul Thigh bruise but should be fine by next Friday

Line play was lethargic and pretty much pathetic IMO

From what I have witnessed, Nagle is not the second best QB on this team

Defense needs to change back to the 4-3 with speed on the ends and any problems go away
