Cardinals, Reds & Pirates clinch playoff berths

Cardinals, Reds & Pirates clinch playoff berths.

Now they are simply vying for position.

Bring back great memories of 1990. Went to the Friday afternoon game 2 of the playoffs against the Bucs. Still remember Jethro throwing out Andy Van Slyke at 3rd base. Most exciting baseball game I ever attended.

Pirates are celebrating like they won the WS. I hope our guys are still focused on the bigger prize.

Cards up 2 games on both for the Central. With the division and home field for the wildcard up for grabs, still a lot to play for this week.

First winning season since, what, 92? I've got no problem with celebrating.

No problem with it. Just hope our guys are not doing the same.

Back to back seasons for 1st time since 1975-76 for the Reds.

Firs time since 92 for Pitt.

Including possibly having home field advantage through the playoffs.

I remember hearing multiple players say there will be no celebration for clinching the WC game because if they lose the 1 game they would look like idiots.

BP said he wouldn't celebrate it.

The Reds / Pirates rivalry has always been there but in 90' as you said and imo more so back in the day of the Big Red Machine of the 70's vs. the Pirates had some classic games.

I can understand the Bucs celebrating the playoffs, has been a long time but agree with NO Reds celebration, I personally want and expect more from the Reds.

On Reds live after the game, they said the Reds would not celebrate as it was not considered a goal for this team.

I've said before the over-the-top celebrations in baseball are excessive for such a serious sport. However, in the case of the Pirates, let them hold a victory parade through town. 21 years in between playoffs appearances. Think about that. That is awesome (and sad on many levels).

Think how crazy this week would be if there wasn't a play in game
