State Championship without D-1 players.

Featured Replies

I believe May and Heineman were I-AA. Look at Henry Clay's team this year and their D-I signees and then look at Trinity's D-I signees and let me know what you come up with.

Did Trinity have any this year? The team they defeated for the title had some D1 signees also. I guess it doesn't matter all that much.

Noope.

I guess it's not all about D-I talent.

1994 we had a few.

True. I think Shaun, Reggie and Brian were the only D-I's though right?

We've won 4 state titles in the past five years. How many D-I's have we had?

Hennessey: MTSU

Brohm: UL

Thiery: Northwestern

Is that it???

Hell, teams we played this year had more D-I's on their team than we've had in the past 5 years, four of which were state titles. :sssh:

^ heck yeah...

D-1...and a bunch of 1-AA's....

Its been stated that it is not the size of the Dog in the fight but the amount of fight in the Dog...

Good Coaching , tradition, strength, hard nose players, and belief they should win goes a long way (not in any order).

The Sultan... stating the truth

But you all also have one of the best coaching staffs in the state, run a more advanced scheme than 99.9 percent of schools in kentucky and have way more depth than all but 1 team in the state. That being said Trinity does not lack for talent. They may not have had d-1 signess, but I played against you guys 3 times in High School and the two best players you guys had were not d-1 signees. They were Geoff Riddle and VINCE POWERS , those guys killed us, this is just my opinion but those guys were so underrated and underhyped , if they were 6'4 225 they would playing d-1 right now. Powers would be playing d-1 right now at UK if he had, had the grades.

There was a Jake Powers and a Vince Phillips on that team, but no Vince Powers. Jake was a fine middle LB and Vince was a running back. I don't know that either had grade problems.

since 1988 Danville has had 5 D1 Players. None of them were on the team at the same time. They have been to 9 state championships since then and have won seven

100+ division 3 level athletes are worth something aren't they?

Yeah. It's called Mount Union.

No high school has that talent level.

I was going to say the same thing LSURock...was never aware of Jake having a grade problem. Vince Phillips (who is a friend of mine) had the ability to make it big but has had some issues that have kept that from happening.

Bourbon had one player on that 97 team even play college football and that was at Centre.

Pretty sure Fuqua and Chase Harp were on the same '97 team.

Crittenden Co won it in '85 w/ no D1 players

Fuqua went to wofford. Not D1. They were in seperate classes as well, and they did not win a state championship that year. They should have. They lost to lex. catholic on a hail mary after Danville beat them by three td's during the regular season. Now, that was a team with 4 div 1 players on it. Danville beat the eventual state champion by 30. Bourbon county finished 4th in our district.
