The Birds are visiting the Colonels and you can forget everything else...The amusing part is that the fans from other schools will enjoy a CCH upset more than the CCH fans. The difference: CCH folks have been there before, have had tons of success athletically in several sports and know how to win.

 

Love going to Wooten Field to experience this game. I am a Highlands grad, but am good friends with several Colonels. Let the smack talk begin. Lol

The bottom line is that the defense needs to play better. Giving up way to many yards and points for arguably the most talented team in a long time. The bend dont break defense needs to get better. Now I am not jumping ship by no means. Im sure JH and PT are solid teams but if you look at both those games on paper HHS margin of victory should have been bigger. I understand they were on the road and the travel and all that good stuff but if the Cov- Cath game is 28-25 in the fourth pressure will be big time on HHS I believe and they may not pull it out. Before everybody starts jumping on me let me tell you that i am a HHS fan and followed them pretty close for a while now but over the last 7 years this team seams to be more suspect to lose to CCH than any of them. Now with the players being out for Cov-Cath I dont think they will overcome that this time but if they were healthy I think this team would be ripe for the picking. Go birds!

 

Not sure about the last two games b/c I wasn't there to watch nor do I know who's been out on the defensive side of the ball, but......It's alarming on paper to see a Bluebird D give up the points they've given up the past couple weeks. Are they porous? Don't know all the deets, but if healthy, it's reason for concern. Their pass defense is suspect, but CCH won't threaten them with the pass. CCH's only chance at a win is clock control. The Birds offense will mop them up if given the chance. period. If CCH controls the clock they will keep collateral damage to a minimum but there is no way they will beat the Birds this year. If no clock management is implemented, the Bluebirds could very well have a running clock. It all depends on the Bluebird defense. If they cannot stop a limp offense like CCH, it cannot be reasonably inferred that they're the number 2 team in the Commonwealth. That would be an affront to the other respected top tier teams that represent consistently each week.

Unless CCH shows Sat suddenly with kids who can run a 4.3-4.4/40 consistently play after play then I'm not really too concerned about HHS's "Defense". HHS won't see the kind of team speed they have faced 4 of the 5 games they have played so far the rest of the year then maybe with the exception of Warren Central. Period!

I was just getting ready to say that the margins of the Highlands victories the last 2 weeks coupled with the Cov Cath injury situation may quiet the bravato of both teams fans - then I read wackem and Q.

 

Anything can happen at this one, but a healthy Highlands should have it's way with the beat up Colonels. It may not be as high scoring if the Colonels can chew up some clock. To me, this is their only hope to win.

Agree with TBirds. Sat at PT, HHS gave PT the ball at the HHS 's 30 on their 1st 2 possessions. The D gave up 6 pts. To me pretty impressive especially with the team that showed up Sat for PT. If you were there, you would understand. I could see where people's concerns are coming from with the points givin up, but again, unless you were there, really not that concerning. Birds will be fine. As long as they win, all is good.

This thread is shaping up to be some good locker room material for the Highlands Defense.

 

Highlands hasn't pitched a shutout this yr and I dont think they will this week either but the incentive to prove otherwise could be on top of the goal list this wk.

 

Not going to give any predictions other than a Highlands Win and in Ft Thomas that is all that counts...:thumb:

I am going with 42-7 Highlands. That score is more lopsided than the game will be. I see the big problem for Cov Cath being offense. Their offense is not going to be able to sustain drives versus Highlands. That will keep CCH from controlling the clock and give the Highlands offense extra possessions. The CCH defense will hold their own but they will not be able to hold on all day. It will be 14 for Highlands, maybe 21 if the Birds hit a big play or two, in the first half. It will be a methodical addition to the score as the game goes on.

 

Cov Cath game plan is try to control clock on offense and stop the big plays on defense. The defense has to help control the clock by making Highlands have long drives to score. The Colonels need an old fashioned, grind it out football game to have a chance at the upset in this one.
