I know it would be hard to put Somerset in there with a 1-3 record, but their schedule has been very difficult. If they don't lose their confidence, I expect them to win their district and make a run in the playoffs.

Pretty wide from what I hear...D1 Jr QB and a receiving corps that goes from 6-0 to 6-6...that combo is unstoppable according to many on another site. They return most of the same team that came within a possession of winning the title last year. It will take a complete game by an opponent and some breaks for a team to beat them this year.

 

IMO if QB is on they will be hard to beat.

DeSales showed that it could beat teams it shouldn't beat. The best answer to the quick strike Franklin offense is to keep it off of the field. De Sales can run w/ the best of them. Other than that it really is going to depend on who gets healthy first, Somerset (mentally and emotionally) or NewCath (physically and mentally).

A team that depends on the run will not beat Caldwell County this year. Any team hoping to beat the Tigers will have to be fast, throw the ball well and often, and take the crowd out of the ballgame. What I would like to know is can DeSales throw the ball any better than they did last year. The Tigers run defense is HIGHLY underestimated. Quick and strong D linemen, hard hitting and big linebackers, and nobody is going to score enough to keep up. Trigg County came out mixing it up on offense and marched down the field to paydirt, then watched the Tiger Offense do the same on 5 straight drives, and the game was over. This week should be a good game against Fort Campbell. Maybe the offense will get to play the whole game, but I doubt it.

Nobody in 2A can score w/ CC. Nobody. You have to take them out of their game. CC would LOVE for the games to get into 50+ to 40+ b/c they can score at will. You have to keep it lower scoring, or you won't win.

How much thought was given to Ballard Memorial? Bombers are 4-0 and have scored 206 points (the same as Caldwell County).

 

I realize that Ballard has played a weak schedule (and plays 0-4 Hopkins Central this week) but that's still pretty impressive.

 

As for Caldwell, I think a team with a lot of speed on defense will give them some problems (see: Murray 2012). I don't think anyone will completely shut down the Tiger offense, but a few stops in a high-scoring game could be all someone needs.

 

I agree with DreamKiller. Teams that primarily run the football aren't going to have a lot of success against Caldwell's defense. Teams that can throw it well, or at least mix up the pass and the run pretty good, should be able to have some success.

Caldwell should cruise against FC, you won't get to find out what you are made of until the final week of the regular season. So it should be smooth sailing at the #1 spot. Ballard Memorial is as improved as amny team in the state but I am still not ready to believe they could crack the top 10 at this point
