I don't see why people keep saying this could've been avoided if the QB did it differently. It really doesn't matter what he did with the ball, the defender can't lay down and take a nap on a downed ball without the officials stopping the clock. I agree this wouldnt have happened if he held on to the ball, but the truth is it shouldnt have happened even when laying the ball down. I feel bad for the Badgers. This could really hurt them in the long run. Lucky for them it was an OOC game and not a league game.

September 16, 201313 yr I think the way the quarterback did it made for more confusion. I stayed up and watched this game, and did not think the quarterback's knee had touched the ground. "Clyde's" still shot clearly shows it did. I think the officials were confused as to whether or not his knee hit the ground and if it was a recovered fumble, leading to the delay in spotting the football.

Several whistles clearly blew before the ASU player jumped on it, so should have been no confusion there.

Not only for them...but, how about anybody else that plays (and specifically, beats) them? Will computer rankings be affected for an Ohio State or Michigan, because the computer will just show this as a loss (instead of a screw job)?
