Just saw this on Sportscenter but have very little background.

 

I saw the Braves dugout jawing at him while he was on the mound and he jawed back.

 

I saw him hit a homer and admired it and when he touched home plate he and Brian McCann got into it.

 

Then Fernandez apologized after the game for his actions.

 

 

What's up with that? What did I miss? The Braves jawed at him, he retaliated by hitting a homer and admiring it and the Braves get mad and Fernandez apologizes? What a wuss. I'd have admired my homer too if the Braves were giving me all that lil because they can't hit me. Bunch of babies. Why are the veteran guys always excused for their actions and the young pups suffer? Makes no sense.

He's only 21. He probably didn't want 'punk' tagged to him so early in his career. I didn't mind the apology, mainly because what he did on the field was sweet and he knew it.

We were on break watching it and when he apologized I got sick. I was thinking I must be missing something. I'm hoping he started it and just missed that part. I hate the unwritten rules of baseball. With a passion.

Also, what a tool Chris Johnson is. Sprinting in from 3rd, instigating the bench clearing, and then hiding behind his team. Then goes back to third and continues to yell at his teammates about how bad he wants to beat up Jose. C'mon man...

Kid is a superstar already. He's going to give Kershaw a run for his money in the next couple years for pitching supremacy.

He also hocked up a big loogie and spit it near the 3rd baseman as he rounded 3rd. But, like most of you, I didn't see anything that was a big deal.

That's what I was hoping the Braves would do, like they did to Bryce Harper, but I don't believe he was going to bat again since he had reached his quota of pitches (or whatever). I was watching that part of the game on the Marlins broadcast and their broadcasters did not condone what he did, but offered 2 possible excuses: (1) he's 21 years old (2) you don't know what led up to it. McCann was not trying to provoke Jose, in their opinion, rather, he was just telling the young player that you don't act like that in the bigs. The "skirmish" really wasn't ever very close IMO to escalating to anything physical. I have not seen what Jose said after the game.

Does anyone else want to vomit when they hear the phrase "the unwritten rules of baseball"?
