If UK or UL had a 38-2 season and then lost that season later due to rules infractions, you don't think every one would be pissed off about that.

 

But if your school is used to forfeiting wins, losing scholarships, being banned from post season then I guess it's not that big of a deal.

 

It is highly doubtful that A&M makes the title game. Who cares if they had to vacate some wins later? It really affects nothing. To get a postseason ban or scholarship reduction they'd have to prove that A&M knew about it. If it's a fine well, Kyle Field holds about 86,000 people. Johnny Football will bring in enough bodies to more than pay for any fine. I'd play him.

Which really was garbage. They played a player that the NCAA cleared, then later came back and said he wasn't eligible.

 

Not Memphis' or Cal's fault.

 

If memory serves me correctly, nearly the same situation existed at Kansas that year, and they didn't have to give up anything.

I don't look at it that way. Memphis was the national runner-up the year Rose played. Regardless of what the official NCAA records say, we all saw that great game against Kansas & we watched Derrick Rose. Announcers still credit Calipari as being the second coach to lead three teams to the Final Four.

 

Inconsistent rulings (and Manziel is one of them) by the NCAA help to explain why they will be no more in the near future. If I'm in charge of an athletic program, I'm not at all concerned about them.

I completely agree that the NCAA is in it's waning days. If it's a year or 5 years NCAA as we currently know it will be gone. I look for top Conf to break away, set new rules (such as paying players a stipend) negotiate a new TV contract for Football and Basketball and set their own championships.

Also keep in mind that Rose was later ruled ineligible because he refused to cooperate with the NCAA investigation. Rose left them no choice. He didn't care enough about Memphis or his former teammates to try to clear up any confusion about whether or not he took his own SATs. He made himself look guilty. I don't know about the Kansas case. Did the kid not cooperate with the NCAA investigation?
