Beechwood / Lima OH Senior Predictions

Featured Replies

The Beechwood Tigers open regular season play on Friday August 30 at 8:30 pm versus Lima OH Senior. This game is part of the Skyline Crosstown Showdown and will be played at the University of Cincinnati Sheakley Athletics Center.

I recommend allowing plenty of time to find parking if you want to be there at kickoff. There are 4 games being played at UC on Friday night. At Sheakley before Beechwood at 6 pm Deer Park OH takes on Purcell Marion OH. At Nippert Stadium the 6 pm game is Cincinnati Colerain vs. Park Vista FL and the 8:30 pm game is Cincinnati Moeller vs. Pike IN High School.

As to Beechwood's game, Lima Senior is in D2, which is the second largest division in Ohio. I believe Lima would be a 6A school in Kentucky.

Who wins this one?

I will go with the Tigers because I know more about them than I do Lima. I know Lima has a new coach and new excitement after quite a few down years. Apparently they had close to 90 kids show up to the first few practices. They did mention that they are aware of BW from a distance and know that they are a small school deep in young talent that often beats schools in KY of larger classes. They went on to say though in KY that does not mean as much as it does in Ohio. Lima has a relatively small OL and a QB who stands 6'-7. That will look interesting.

On another note, if anyone is aware of the layout at Sheakley I would be glad to hear from them. I am a week removed from knee replacement surgery and am looking for some degree of comfort Friday night if I go to the game. Thanks.

There were pictures of the facility here on BGP back when the schedules were announced. There was also a lot of talk about parking capacity, ect. VOR I believe weighed in but someone else posted several pictures that would be helpful.

Good luck Tigers, represent KY well

Sheakley field I am pretty sure has a over look next to the bleachers.

I could not figure out how to copy from another thread so I made a post in it to bring it back to the top entitled Bw 2013. Bum there are pics of that facility in that thread

Lima is a bad team. Beechwood will roll.

Lima has a 6'5 QB but he is rail thin. I'd compare them to Holmes, without the Scruggs type playmakers.

Someone has to pull for the underdog.

If there was no coaching change, I would agree. When you bring in a coach with the track record of Lima's new coach, Mike Fell, then things can change fast. Here is some info on how Fell did at his previous team, Ada, and also before that:

Ada has gone to the playoffs seven years in a row and before that Fell had three Columbus Grove teams which reached the playoffs.

His overall record at Ada, Columbus Grove and Celina is 169-83 in 23 seasons, including a 10-2 season last fall.

Four of his Ada teams won 10 games or more. The Bulldogs’ 2007 team reached the state semifinals, where it was edged 41-38 by Hopewell-Loudon. The 2008, 2009 and 2010 teams got to the regional championship game.

I expect Lima to be much, much better. If Noel Rash became the head coach at Holmes this off season, would you expect Holmes to improve? Actually, a better example might be Lloyd because Fell is a Lima grad returning to coach his alma mater. If Rash became the head coach at Lloyd this past off season, would Lloyd be better this year?
