They will be different. Very tough to replace the 7 key Srs. 5 of which started for 3 years. Most expect a huge drop off from the Jags but don't be surprised if they make a run at the district title for a 3rd straight year (yes I know they lost the tie-breaker last year). Everyone seriously needs to keep more than one eye on Scott.

The truth of the matter is ... it should have been worse. Get over it.

 

Coach Eviston understood that the game never should have come down to that play (where it isn't a question of the ball breaking the plane, it did. The question was whether he had made the catch, the ball was still loose.) NewCath played terrible, Beechwood played inspired. They had a great first half, took advantage of a couple of missed tackles for huge gains and were up 17-0 at half. NewCath responded, but that's about the only positive that they could take from that game. They underestimated Beechwood and Beechwood punched them in the mouth. That game refocused NewCath for sure. I want to see the field goal picture b/c I never have seen it. Everyone quotes to it, so I'd like a glimpse.

I agree this could be Scott's year but until they prove they can play with the big boys of Class 5 I would not rank them at #2. The last two years it has been Conner, Cooper and South Oldam as the class of 5 in Northern Kentucky. Conner has been blessed with a great QB and all purpose player the last couple of years. Cooper had a great senior and junior class last year.

Owen County, Carroll County and Gallatin County. Seems to fall in between the cracks.

 

I personally don't consider any of those teams "Northern Kentucky."

 

If Walton were in the district with Newcath, Holy Cross, Lloyd, and Newport, I probably would've included them.

First let me say great job, I appreciate the time and effort you have been putting in to this. I don't think anyone has done a better job than you have. I want to challenge your statement above, why in the world would you make that statement? While Bw is capable, they should not be considered the favorite and should be an underdog to Mayfield given what each returns.

 

Beechwood will be a much different team than year's past. Some may not agree with me, but I think the lack of a passing game is what has hurt them in year's past against Mayfield. This year, not so much. Fieger is one of the best in the area and will have plenty of targets to look for out wide. I also like their run game. I just feel this is the year they get over that hump. And I have plenty of respect for the Mayfield program. Outside of Newcath, there aren't too many teams in the state at that level that have had more success against the Tigers.

Not sure what you mean by this? Can you explain please? I tend to stay out of the football threads throughout hoops season and don't really get in to "football mode" until after "March Madness" and the NBA Finals.

I really like what Scott returns and think they will surprise a lot of people. As much as I like Coach Borchers and his team, I think it would have been a big sign of disrespect to put them ahead of Scott, given what they return this year.

The order of how the nky teams will finish does not include the others in the district. (Noted in the article) I have Scott ranked as the #2 5A team in NKY. Doesn't necessarily mean they will finish 2nd in the district. I do think Conner wins the district, however.

And FWIW, the Kentuckypreps.com preseason poll that I was asked to vote in also had Beechwood #1 in the state.

 

You certainly have your opinion but your trying to put something square in a round hole. So in other words you are saying that I am going to view this while wearing my Bw colored glasses

 

 

The Cards return more on both sides of the ball from a much better team including a better QB and line and they are all back. The young Bw QB still has a ways to go and may become one of the best in the area but he was no where near that when he left the field last year. How do I find this poll ?
