If it wasn't a racist act why wouldn't they simply defend themselves? If someone accused you of a racist act would apologize to save face or would you defend yourself properly against racist accusations? I would never apologize for something I didn't do.

I get what your saying, but working for the worlds largest retailer, I was forced to apologize for the actions of my employees many times when my employees were correct in the way they handled something. Many times customers have an elitist attitude when they walk into a store and feel that everyone is beneath them, they are going to get pissed off at the smallest thing.

If Oprah feels it was racist then it very well could have been. In the case in Paris a few years ago her partner said the fact they weren't allowed in a store after it closed for a private party. Said that it made her feel like Rosa Parks but worse, because Rosa was at least allowed on the bus.

$38' date='000 handbags.[/quote']

Only other person I know who would want a 38K handbag is this guy.

I don't the Paris incident was racism but it could have been. I definitely don't think it compares to Rosa Parks at all. That's a foolish thing to say. I do think the Swiss one was.

That's where he carries his cojones, when Gisel lets him have them.

Good point.

I'd want them in an expensive handbag also.

$38,000 handbags.

What's the resale value on a handbag?

What's the resale value on a handbag?

No clue.

I'm sure Clizzy would know, though.

Not sure how this can be viewed as anything but racist, unless Oprah was wearing a Wal-Mart smock.

It's a satchel.

I am always dressed down any time I'm shopping for anything & there have been a few times when sales people have ignored me as well. Or at best they might give a brief greeting & then go over to someone else who more looks the part. Someone not wearing UK shorts, a wrinkled tee-shirt & well-worn shoes.

The last car we purchased we did so with cash. $10,000 on the road. Salesman repeatedly asked, "Now, you're paying for this with cash, correct? All of it?" I wasn't offended, but I was amused. Can't really say I blame them. :lol2:

You should've come back with something along the lines of "Well, we brought everything they had at the 7-11, but we can go get some more if you've got another convenience store around here." And if he laughed that one off, say "No seriously, we're good. This money's fresh from Columbia...got plenty of it." :lol2:

Quit making excuses for it. It said the clerk told Oprah she couldn't afford it and tried to talk her down to a cheaper model. Simple as that.

Question: How would your wife be dressed if she were walking into this high-dollar boutique? Blinged-out and in dresses that cost more than I make in a year? Because I'm pretty sure Oprah was. There's a whole lot of racist Europeans, just like there's a whole lot of racist Americans. You should read up on how they treat African players on the soccer pitch, tossing bananas at them and such. Americans are a little more subtle about their racism.

Color me shocked:scared: I didn't think it was possible in such of utopia as Europe.
That doesn't make it racist. It could of very well been she was dressed down and the clerk didn't think she could afford it because of the way she dressed, not because of her skin color.

Assuming that was the case, it still seems likely a woman of Oprah's immense wealth would be traveling around with a slew of bodyguards, which should well more than enough tip some clerk as to what type of person they were dealing with.
