I can guarantee you that the less talented than the previous five years is the same thing we hear about this years CCH varsity squad. Only time will tell.

Are things are so bad at Cov Cath that the only hope lies with mythical 8th grade championships and 1 day of Freshman practice? Good luck beating Highlands with that.

Okay I have a lot to cover. Yes, cole is the Frosh QB. Ryle was my in the league but The 8th grade team did play them and won. Campbell county was ik the league but CCH rolled right over them. This team can beat highlands, and should go undefeated but, and a big BUT, they have to still work hard and be young men in the classroom, on the field and outside of school. Yes they could easily beat everyone by two td's but things happen. Coach Edgington will prepare them for every game on the schedule, not just HHS. I am looking foward to this team, we have to let them play games before we give them all this hype, and them we will see. The class has much potential but lets wait a little. Can't wait til the games start!!

I'll admit- this thread doesnt have the scintillating views that the 6 page thread about Highlands, Tom Gamble and the Crosstown Showdown has, but its got potential.

You say all of this, but start threads on a regular basis to promote this frosh team. Let the kids be kids and enjoy the experience of getting to play high school football without all of the undue pressure that parents keep putting on these kids. They should take one day at a time and hope that at the end of the year they got better individually and as a team. Problem is they have been setup to take everyone's best shot this year and you can bet that when and if they do not beat someone soundly or actually lose, you are going to hear about it right here which is really not fair to the coaches or the kids.

All 11 starters names will be called an awful lot. But among the best of them are

 

WR/LB Alex Shelton - he is a stud athlete who is a football player. Has great hands, good speed, very strong and physical. He is also a team leader. Him and Cole will connect for a lot of Td's this year.

 

RB/DB Anthony Best- this kid is fast. He will definitely be a good threat on both sides. Lock down corner.

 

OL/DL Hunter Zeigelmeyer (sp) is a big boy. He is about 6'4 220. And has great doped for a kid his size.

 

OL/DL Thomas Pilger- the kid is a football player. Has great potential and will be a great lineman for CCh.

 

WR/DB Matthew theil (sp)- he is a a very athletic kid with good speed and is a good option for Cole to throw to.

You earn nothing with talk! When you earn it on the field then and only then can you get the respect of others. And if you earn that respect, don't talk about it - show some class. In the words of legendary coach Paul Brown " Act like you've been there before" I think the bolded quote above shows that you are a member of this team and are excited about the future however, my advice is to let things happen, enjoy the process, and do your talking on the field. Beating Highlands is always the goal at CCH but wanting to do it and doing it are two different things. My favorite saying about potential is this - "Potential is an excuse to procrastinate; Ambition is a means to thrive" I wish you much amibition!

The CovCath "Seniors in Training", will be holding a Intra-Squad game at CovCath on Thursday Aug 8th which I believe will start at 6pm and last until around 8pm.

 

BTW Coach Edgington who I spoke to this morning and who gave me his okay to post this, hopes a huge crowd of CovCath fans show up to watch this event.

Not even sure if numbered Jerseys have been given out to the Frosh, but I will say this, when CovCath does play HHS at HHS this year on Thursday 9/19, you can bet I will have a roster for the HHS student who will doing the PA job.
