CCH Freshman will put on pads for the first time this year tonight. It's going to be an exciting year for this team. They have much potential. What are we looking for this team to do down the road?

 

Come together as a team, enjoy their time playing ball, grow physically, mentally and spiritually.

 

Most of all, carry on the Covington Catholic Tradition: Live "With a Spirit That Will Not Die".

CCH Freshman will put on pads for the first time this year tonight. It's going to be an exciting year for this team. They have much potential. What are we looking for this team to do down the road?

 

Play and work as a team, realize that the team is only as good as the weakest player and that they understand that you attend Covington Catholic to get a great education because if don't get the graders in the classroom, you won't be playing on the turf, no matter how good you are!

1) Stick together for all 4 years with a minimal # of kids falling off the roster. Big Sr classes generally = great results.

2) Have fun growing together!

3) Beat Highlands- starting this year!

 

If those things happen, this group can be very, very special. Without naming names, I think there are 8-10 boys in this class who (if they foster their love of the game and continue to train themselves and develop) can get college taken care of at some level.

Having said that for this year their Freshman year. I expect them to be dominate. I don't see anyone in NKY being with in 2 scores of them. Highlands their usual nemesis will have a down year this year. I am not saying the Ft. Thomas boys wont evolve into the Mueller machine as a great team down the road, but as a Freshman group they are significantly less talented than the 5 previous classes.

 

If this class at CovCath does not go undefeated, they will have disappointed as a Freshman class.

Wow- I hope your right, but I can certainly see where some teams may be within 2 TD's.

 

Bottom line- they will be a fun group to watch this year and to follow in coming years. They are quality young men.

WOW....Not a bigger CovCath guy on this board and one who hasn't missed a Frosh game in years but to put this on a bunch of Frosh who:

 

Have had only 1 HS practice in Pads.

Haven't faced even in a scrimmage or 7vs7 another HS team much less played a single HS game is a bit much.

Sure they might, could, maybe be good but as I have said before lets wait until the Aug 16th scrimmage game to see how they do against Campbell County.

This group did win the NKY 8th grade Championship last year.

Now understand, I have seen them practice, have spoken to some of their coaches, I understand that the bar is being set high by some fans but......lets just wait until the next six or seven weeks pass, before we go off the deep end!

I agree. I think this is the most talented team I have seen in many years. However, many things can happen during a season, injuries, illness etc. Many times at the freshman level one or two dominant players can control a game. I have seen my share of Freshman games where one gifted player returns a couple punts or breaks off a couple long runs and an other wise very close game gets flipped the other way.

 

I think this team will do very well, but it takes many things going right for an undefeated season.

Ryle doesnt play in the league, the league wont let them.

Highlands Freshman as the underdog. Nice place to be. All of the expectations are in Park Hills.

Highlands does not play in the league, but Campbell County does. The large school division that Cov Cath competes against is Cov Cath, Campbell County, Twenhofel, Summit View, Holmes, Woodland and Turkeyfoot. And all those teams aside from Holmes were very competitive last year, but Cov Cath was definitely a level above the rest.

I can guarantee you that the less talented than the previous five years is the same thing we hear about this years CCH varsity squad. Only time will tell.
