The mainstream media is dominated by liberals and Fox News is well....Fox News. I propose that a list of reputable news sources is listed in this thread so I'll know where to get 'accurate' news from. Thanks.

It would be easier to put together a list of disreputable news sources. You could start the list by penciling in any "news" source funded by George Soros. Political campaign websites have more credibility, IMO.

August 5, 201313 yr I pay for subscriptions to the New York Times and the Economist. To me, they are both good enough to warrant the cost. Otherwise I selectively keep up with a litany of other sources from a variety of niches and perspectives and Twitter helps facilitate that quite a bit. I think you can get a pretty developed overview of what's going on through that strategy. I avoid all television news and Politico.

Although I am not a fan of all of them, I also consider the following reputable news media: CBS ABC New York Times Washington Post Wall Street Journal London Telegraph London Times The Guardian The Economist Washington TImes (very good on national security stories, IMO) Reuters (very biased on Middle East news involving Israel) Huffington Post (questionable - liberal bias but they don't fabricate news like NBC/MSNBC and most liberal blogs) More disreputable sources: NBC (all the fake news fit to air) Daily Kos Media Matters for America (purely a propaganda outlet)
August 5, 201313 yr Huffington Post definitely has a liberal bias but I think that they make an honest effort to fact check their stories before publishing them. I even link to Huffington Post articles from time to time because most liberals trust their coverage. Habib mentioned Politico, and I agree with him. I read Politico articles occasionally but I don't consider it a good source of news. More opinion than fact.
August 5, 201313 yr There is no MSM or cable or newspaper I would 'trust' as a single source. And worse is that all of the MSM, cable and newspapers will filter news. There hardly is any investigative journalism any more in these areas. The woman from CBS was digging into Benghazi - look where it got her. A hacked computer and an employer who shut her up. No one Fox does any 'investigation'. Stossel does - but he stays clear of the sensitive stuff. Blogs and forums are much faster and carry much more detail than any of the 3 outlets above. But then there are counter-blogs and so on so forth. A very popular doom forum is one that goes by Godlikeproductions. If you want news fast - there it is. A 100 people will post all about something that happened 10 minutes ago. But so will 1000 idiots. But its wild and fun place for news - especially on disasters. Freerepublic is a 'conservative' oriented forum/blog that runs articles but also carryies forums. So it blurs news, blogging and forums. The overly partisan blogs like Daily KOS are worthless. Leaner blogs are OK (HP, Politico) as they will carry reprinted and usually accurate articles. Fake investigative blogs (Snopes, Media Matters, Fack Check) are to be discounted. Snopes is outright joke. Fact Check at least 'correct' their post when proven wrong - and they often are. These are fake news outlets. They do no real investigation. The famous 'reporters' for Fact check who 'proved' Obama's 2008 COLB was good - one works for the government (surprise) and one went to work for a really obscure left wing environment blog called GIST. Neither were professional journalists and both were political hacks. That is what Fact Check is full of. Maybe since the White House references Snopes generated material when it proves stuff maybe it should be consideration....nah, its junk. As a head scratcher on this topic. Look at what happened this week with CNN and Benghazi. They were acting as if the fact that 'dozens' of Americans were in Benghazi at the CIA/State Dept Annex was new news and that there serious injuries from the attack was new news. When all of this was reported the day after by Reuters. CNN and other ignored what is now obviously accurate information that Reuters reported on September 12th. The question is - why did the big media groups filter the known facts so long and are now letting them out slowly?
