August 2, 201313 yr Streets are smooth. Sidewalks are bumpy with all the grooves even when they are new. Baby can't sleep if it is bumpy. Baby will sleep forever if they get pancaked in the middle of the street.

And Oakbrook has some great walking path and some very heavy traffic on that very narrow road running through it. Never could understand the folks who ran there and who got upset with drives who honked their horn at them or narrowly missed them when the traffic was heavy, when there, just beside the road was a nice size sidewalk!
August 3, 201313 yr Yeah! Students walking in the middle of the street was my number one pet peeve when I worked for UofL DPS.
August 3, 201313 yr My street has no sidewalks. So it's the middle of the street for me when I go for a walk. Someone once pointed out to me, when a local city beautified itself by putting in brick cross walks, an interesting point. Looks great but those in wheels chairs/motorized scooters pointed out how uncomfortable it was for them.
August 4, 201313 yr I walk my dogs(3 huskies) down the middle of the street in my 'hood when I walk the dogs. I don't want to hear any dog haters crying about my dogs peeing or pooping in their yard. I do all I can to keep my dogs out of people's yards but when cars come we all move out of the way of the cars. We don't block traffic. People who block traffic the way you described are just rude.
