July 31, 201313 yr Offense is pathetic. Jocketty doesn't make a move today (and he won't), this team has zero chance at the postseason. I'm not sure why Walt has gotten such a pass from Cincy fans. The few moves he's made have been very questionable. Do you ever read what you post? Or does that just come from the ether? Before Walt, what did the farm system look like? How about the trade for Latos? I could go on. How was that post season pattern going before Walt? You look at this season with no view of the future. Pitching wins championships. If nothing else, this club has that. Sure, I'd love to see a 3B who could drive in runs in the middle of this lineup. Probably not going to happen because the price is too high. So, you can chastise WJ all you like, but you'd still be wrong.

July 31, 201313 yr $20+M locked up in Broxton, Marshall, and Ludwick next season. Brilliant. Another $20+M locked up in a guy that can't even knock in 75 RBIs. And let me say, I understand the Votto signing, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a nightmare for them a couple seasons down the road. Their hands are completely tied financially for the next several seasons. They better pray some of the farm system develops, because they have no money to do anything in the offseason moving forward.

Votto should have never been signed to that contract, never, period.

July 31, 201313 yr Extend Phillips, Bruce, sign Chapman. Cingrani from the farm system. No one crying over those. You can talk all you like about the money tied up in Marshall, Broxton, and Ludwick, but the fact remains they are injured. So, if you're able to predict the guys who will end up on the DL, then you are in the wrong profession and should be a GM.

If Broxton, Marshall and Cueto were healthy all season they have the best rotation in the NL and a lights out bullpen. If Ludwick were healthy all season and performed anywhere close to what he did last season they have a much deeper batting order, and in turn, a deeper bench. The moves to acquire Broxton, Marshall and Ludwick were to try and win now. With players that they have what would you have done? Without Broxton and Marshall most of the season the team is 16-18 in one run games, last season they were 31-21. Those signings gave the Reds a chance to win it all this season and next season that they wouldn't have had without those players.

Even if those guys are healthy, they have no chance at winning it all this season or next. Broxton was bad when he was healthy this season. He's the most overpaid reliever in the game. Until they address the offensive side, they have no chance in hell. I do agree, the starting pitching is good enough though.
July 31, 201313 yr Team has to have the lowest baseball IQ in the league. 1st and 2nd, none out for Votto and you get thrown out trying to steal 3rd. Idiots.
July 31, 201313 yr I was going to say "please tell me that wasn't a called steal" but either way it's ignorant.
