Why White people don't see racism

I also hear a lot about the "athletic" and "fundamental" comparison, I just never agreed with it. Not the stereotype of athletic = black and fundamental = white. I disagreed that "athletic" and "fundamental" are, essentially, the same thing just of a different color. To me, they are totally different, which makes the comparison even more racist because it has little to do with ability.

And, how can you be a Duke fan and not be racist? Beautiful people are a race and Duke doesn't accept any of them.

I'm blind. Clayton Bigsby is my uncle.

Seriously though...I usually bristle when I hear or see athletic or fundamental used but at the same time I know no harm is meant and that it is normally a poor attempt at being politically correct.

PP do you "political correctness" has helped or hurt race relations over the years?

You commented on some of the same things that I was going to comment on and I agree with your post.

PS: I have met PP on a couple of occasions and he is a very nice guy.

I appreciate that, LN. It's always good to place a face with a name and I has always enjoyed conversating with you in person as well. The feeling is mutual.

I think it has done both. In some situations it has probably made a tense situation calmer and then in others it has made a calm situation tense. I think it can go both ways depending on how it is used. Delivery is key.

I don't believe a word of it. I never see any racism on a daily basis.

Not to pick on you, but where you live is a lot like most of Kentucky: pretty much all-white. I think this is where the cognitive dissonance thing comes into play. It's not happening around me (because no black folks live nearby), so it doesn't exist.

That is pretty much the gist of his article. One thing I have to wonder about if he was referring to Jackson and Sharpton when he talked about helping the family. Those two race hustlers (there, I said it) only help themselves.

My post was tongue in cheek. That wasn't my real view. Maybe a smilie of some sort was in order.

Ok, you have been listening to Mark Levin. HAHAHAHA His new book is coming out soon. Leather is going to lose me for awhile.

I don't see, or ok, I didn't listen to the whole ten minute interview, but I don't hear where he( Zimmerman) is an accused killer, other than this case, and has a LONG arrest record. Travon's, record , however, was not allowed at the trial because he has been arrested and sited on many occasions.

The only racists in this vision are the people who complain about racism. So , did he just call himself a racist? Ok, my preps is not working as it has in the past. The first sentence is a quote from the article.

I must be on the bear bones program.

Seemed obvious

I got it but I've seen enough of your posts to realize it was sarcasm, an icon would help though. I've learned that the hard way.

As a coach I hear the athletic and fundamental thing a good deal. I agree that in the past that is was code and it has continued in many ways. My question is how else do you describe a team that has a number of good athletes?
