Former Holy Cross Lineman/ Ex U.S. Marine Has Passed Away

Not sure if many people remember Drew Meyers, he was an offensive and defensive lineman for Holy Cross and graduated in 2003. Upon graduating he enlisted in the Marines where he served four years and later returned to service as a civilian contractor in war zones. He also was a student at Thomas More College where he started and urged other former military members to join what he called "Service men to Saints". They dressed in fatigues for home games and assisted many charities, but before every home game they would collect toys for tots.

As a player Drew was one of the players that helped get Holy Cross football program off the ground, and if anyone remembers the Stone-Armstrong years where they were both running the ball well Drew was the anchor of that offensive line. Had a chance to play at Thomas More but after just one year decided to serve our country. I played against this man for 4 years in high school and he was truly a great player, but getting to know him off the field he was a even greater man.

Drew passed away at his house this weekend of a heart attack, at age 28. His dedication to HC, TMC , and the USMC deserves to be recognized, and that is why I have taken the liberty of starting this thread.

God Bless him and his family!!

RIP Marine and thank you for all that you did. You contributed more in 28 years than a lot of people contribute in much longer lives. Semper Fi. Give Chesty my regards and assume your post guarding Heaven's streets. Prayers and condolences to his family.

This hit home a bit as "The Boss" has worked with his Mother for years! He indeed was his Mom life and when he was overseas she dreaded getting "a call" but this, to lose her Son at home at 28 years of age, has hit her hard!

Please say a pray.

I didn't know him, but I know a lot of folks who did. Sounds like a really good guy, for sure. My prayers are with his family and loved ones.

Love a good Chesty Puller reference.

Well done, sir. Brought a tear to my eyes.

Thoughts and prayers to the HC community as well. I've always been a big fan of their esprit de corps. I'm sure HC is better for having Andrew and I know Andrew got better after being influenced in life by Coach Wysong and Coach Koz and the rest of the HC community.

RIP my friend. Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and friends. Also a big thanks for his service and all he did for the community.

Prayers to the family of this outstanding young man. I agree with the earlier post about doing more with his 28 years than most do that live much longer.

Prayers to mom and family. Thank you to Drew for his service to our country and his community.
