Freshmen AIT

Featured Replies

This post is a perfect example of what Ashland would love for you to believe. The ineligable players for Rose Hill also included: Johnny Bush, James Marsh, Andrew Porter, Kyle Bush, Mike Davis, Robbie Barber, and Tyler Gilbert. Leaving Rose Hill with a grade total of 3 eligable 7th graders and several 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

Basically a student is not allowed to play in a sporting event on every night between Monday and Thursday. They must have at least one day off during that period. Give the fact that the AIT was on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and Rose HIll had a JV/Varsity game on Tuesday anyone, not just Euton, Jackson, and Bair, who played in these games was ineligable. If any of these kids played Rose Hill would be forced to cancel their varsity games on Friday and Saturday.

The losers in this situation are the players from Ashland. This is their championship. It is what they play and practice for the entire season. At least that was the case when I help coach their freshman several years ago. If I were the players I would ask for the game to be rescheduled.

Thanks for the correct info.

Its funny how I never heard all those other players would be unable to play.

I just now caught this. When you say that this is what "Ashland" would have you believe, are you referring to everyone that lives inside the city limits, the administration, the AD, the coaches, the players, the parents of the players, all Ashland fans, or what?

Just looking for a little clarification.

Frances

If the KHSAA rules prevented Rose Hill's kids from playing tonight, would you be in favor or rescheduling the game (if a date can be worked out), or would you rather the game stay as a forfeit?

For my money, I would like to see the schools find a date, just as Rickyp, Gopack21, and Kinglion have suggested.

I'm pretty sure that they could find some new nets to string up.

Frances

I would like to see it rescheduled too but...

My money says the game will NEVER be rescheduled .

The official nets have been seen circling the Bluegrass in a victory lap.

I highly doubt it will also.

This is a real shame. Ashland, and by Ashland I mean players, coaches, fans, boosters, are really upset about this. I believe that if Rose Hill could have fielded a team, any team, they should have stuck with their commitment and played the game. Ashland had to refund money back to fans that had paid to get in, and even pay the officials for showing up. Not to mention the fact that the whole tournament leaves a bitter taste in everyones mouth. Im really dissapointed for the kids who had their season ended abruptly without a proper finale.

The result of the tournament could scare some teams off in the future.

Come on Frances, do you really think I meant everyone in the city limits? I mean specifically those who told go pack that only Jackson, Bair, and Euton could play. You know, the people who want you and everyone else to believe that Rose Hill dropped out because their best players were not eligable. I'm referring to whomever it was that left out the fact that not one player who sit on Rose Hill's bench last night would have been eligable.

I don't have a specific person and I don't know from whom go herd got his information but I can assure you that go pack got his information from someone from Ashland not Rose Hill or any other school.

I still say that Ashland (the school, not the city) and Rose Hill (the school, not the church or cemetary) should reschdule the game, nets or no nets.

I would like to see the game played also. But it seems like everyone is implicating that this will never be rescheduled because of the typical Ashland attitude everyone thinks we have. The fact of the matter is this - Rose Hill could have put a team on the floor, played the game, and fulfilled their commitment. They didnt, end of story. Its just a shame that it looked like things in the Ashland Rose Hill relationship had gotten to a better place, but the events of a couple of weeks ago, and again tonight have done more damage.

I wouln't say they should come with ANY team that they could field . That means evidently they would be coming with mostly a grade school team.

If I had a child in 5th or 6th grade ,there is no way I would let them play in a highly competitive game with 9th graders unless they were Extremely gifted.

What Im curious about is WHEN did everybody become aware there was a problem.

They were so upset they cut the nets down.

AT, tell them to reschedule and I will pay for the officials.

Good question! Rose Hill was notified sometime this afternoon about this situation, but waited until 6:30 to call and forfeit, 1 hour before game time!!!

I guess cutting the nets down is their way of trying to make the best of a bad situation. When Rose Hill hands you lemons, Ashland makes lemonade.

AT, so you think it would have been better if Rose Hill sent their 6th grade team?

I dont necessarily think it would have been "better" But I do think it would have been the "stand up" thing to do.

AT, I personally call Blazer at 10:45 this morning to discuss the situation and my call wasn't returned until after 3:00. Which by the ways is after the KHSAA is in their meetings and unavailable for the rest of the day.
