Do some of their freshman play JV/V also?

Did they play on Tues.?

Im not aware if they played on Tues. in another venue.

For my money- if West Carter would have beat R.H. and they had played on Tues. -- you would have never heard about it or they would have rescheduled

Unfortunately RH is putting the 16th Region Tennis Director into the same position by asking that the 1st 3 rounds of the regional tournament be played on sat. before the start of the actual tournament on Mon so several of their players can go on a SR. cruise :irked: . By making this request they are basically putting the "powers that be" in the situation where there are "just hurting the kids" or "taking it out on RH". It seems that maybe RH needs to readdress what they what accomplished and redirect more time into the scheduling of events in a more timely manner! :thumb: Just IMHO!!!

 

Since you brought up tennis, last year during Regions, Ashland's #1 player, Kyle Virgin, was way more ( at least 45 minutes) than 15 minutes late to a match with RH. By the rules, he should have defaulted and lost the match. HOWEVER, RH, the team that you say asks from other people, permitted him to play & thus allowing him to go on to the state tournament. Because they allowed him to do that, they had to watch their own player be humiliated.

 

All I'm saying is, this is not a one way street. Concessions and requests are made all the time from all schools whether the posters on BGP are aware of them. Yes, mistakes are made, but it seems some are dwelt upon more than others.

Oh, I've tried to refrain, but it's not in my nature. No way can you make me believe that the game couldn't be made up. It was bad enough Ashland stacked the tourney in their favor so that RH could eliminate all the competition that posed a threat to Ashland. And I don't even want to hear about Ashland missed out on Allllll that gate money. If that is an issue reschedule, all this crap will do nothing but fill the stands in a makeup. Who cares whose fault, play the game. You know someone else who got shafted in this whole deal,,West Carter. They deserved a chance to play in the Championship if RH was gonna be hosed. Yes, I said hosed. No way was this not preconceived by Ashland. I'll finish with this. This type of thing will do nothing more than get their guts pressed out in the 4th quarter by RH in the future. I am gonna bookmark this thread and keep it until a couple of years down the road when the Ashland apologists are crying about getting shelacked by 45 by those mean ole Royals. You cut the nets down now, it's gonna be your last chance.

He would have went anyway because his team won the team title!! 16 mins would not be a complete default! It would have involved no warmup and point and game penalities, These would have been assessed only if there was a court open!

 

This instance involves 1 team, the changing I'm speaking of could involve 6 or seven teams! I brought up tennis to make the point that it seems that RH always expects more considerations than other schools. I believe that in their B-ball heyday that they were continually flip-flopping and attempting to change scheduling because of their "barnstorming" tour. When they were not obliged they screamed "foul" ! Just my thoughts, no big deal if you don't agree!

Not in this fight...but how can RH blame Ashland for RH's Athletic Director and coach not being aware of the tournament schedule and the KHSAA rules?

We will see you in the future, and it really doesn't look that bright does it? You dodged a bullet from 8th graders last night, but you won't be able to in the next few years. I won't bother to run down the list of Ashland teams who have defeated RH on the court this year. It wouldn't take long, but instead I will suffice it to say, all you had to do was reschedule and this would not have become an issue. The beauty is this,,,,the kids cut down the nets, and in their hearts know they didn't truly win. At least not on the court. And there are those who made those decisions that will watch those kids with some sort of satisfaction in an empty trophy. Let me be the first to say CONGRATULATIONS . :dancingpa

Never said Ashland was "upright" in the whole deal. But if the "powers that be" at RH had paid any attention to their basketball scheduling this could have been prevented. Its not Ashland's responsibility to tell RH they have a scheduling conflict. And that my friend, is the rest of the story.

Not sure of the particulars in regard to Kyle, but obviously if there was miscommunication between the director and the player it would suffice as a reason for being late or again if all the other matches at that time hadn't been put on he could not have been "put on the clock". Yes kids do want to be play and settle it on the court/field but there has to be accountability on the part of the admistrators to prevent things like these from happening. In hindsight? Would RH have forfeited the JV game in OH to insure their ability to participate in the FR AIT?? Parents and players realize that vacations, opportunities, and time will always have to be sacrificed to compete in sports, with that knowledge in tow each individual must realize what battles/contests they want to undertake and which ones that they will be passing up. Similar things occur in real life, in regards to finances- opportunity costs!
