If it wasnt to far gone it will be after Ashland's varsity game and the dynamic duo on the radio. I would hope they wouldnt drag this thru the mud, but after listening to one of the games this year -I dont think they can help themselves.

Oh boy...

I think it is a shame that the Freshman AIT ended like that. How is that fair to all the other schools that played in the tournament? I think it is the responsibility of the school that is playing in the tournament, not the school hosting the tournament, to know the rules. My understanding is that the Freshman AIT has been that format for awhile. I feel that this one has to fall on the Hill.

I dont see what is unfair to the 'other' schools. They all played and all LOST except Ashland and R.H.

I dont know. I cant speak for "the others" do I get included in "the others"? Because I would be insulted if I wasnt. But in all honesty I think EVERYONE wanted to play the game tonight.

AT41- your either incredibly naive or your just "playin", because if EVERYONE

wanted to play this game, why cant they reschedule for next Monday or Thursday? Would draw a good crowd, Alumni is open, and Ricky P is paying for the refs, and the freshmen schedule is open, whats holding "EVERYONE "back? (if "they" really want to play this game)

Well said bball observer.. :ylsuper:

Why take the oppurtunity away for other teams to play in the championship when you know that you wont play in the championship. That is why it is unfair.

I just think that it is a shame that the other schools agreed to play in the tournament and was prepared to play it out. The schools new the days that it was played on and they say "oh, we can't play". They should have known the situation in advance and notified Ashland in advance, so that they could have picked up another team that could have finished the tournament.

Let's all at least admit the obvious. Ashland did not and does not want to play Rose Hill's regular freshman team. They have the same desire to play Rose Hill's freshman team as do the Kittens to make up their postponed game against the Rose Hill girls. In both cases, it is likely that the players want to play. It is only the administrators, athletic staffs, and boosters who lack the desire. As Ashland's coach responded when asked if the game could be rescheduled, "We'll take the forfeit." Did anyone expect anything else?

Why do we have to admit anything? If they didn't want to play Rose Hill in the tournament they wouldn't have had them play in it. Once again, the tournament has had the same Sat, Mon, Wed, and Thurs format for years. The Hill knew this coming in.

And maybe just maybe Ashland realized Rose Hill had a varsity game in between and certian players would not be eligable.

I will agree 100% that Rose Hill, and myself personally, should have know the rule. If nothing else I have learned that when you deal with Ashland you better know the rule book cover to cover. But please don't believe for 1 second that Ashland wasn't aware of the rule and it's effect on this tournament. Remember it was discussed in the bleachers at alumni on Monday. If there was a sincere interest on Ashland's part to avoid this situation there was an hour conversation on Wednesday afternoon were ample opprotunity to discuss this matter presented itself. Instead their "courtesy call" came at 2:30 pm on the day of the finals.

I'm basically neutral in this fight but it seems that exceptions should not HAVE to be made. Why must the schedule that was established many mos prior be deviated from?? I understand that the RH players are the ones being hurt but unfortunately their overseers are the ones to be blamed. Why force the admistrators of the AIT to make a decision that will most likely be unpopular with their contigency as well as making more work for all involved to acquire a gym, run concesions, etc.

Unfortunately RH is putting the 16th Region Tennis Director into the same position by asking that the 1st 3 rounds of the regional tournament be played on sat. before the start of the actual tournament on Mon so several of their players can go on a SR. cruise :irked: . By making this request they are basically putting the "powers that be" in the situation where there are "just hurting the kids" or "taking it out on RH". It seems that maybe RH needs to readdress what they what accomplished and redirect more time into the scheduling of events in a more timely manner! :thumb: Just IMHO!!!

When is the tennis tournament. Isn't that in a timely manner? I don't think RH players are "hurt" by not playing. I think the reputation of the AIT has suffered. Why didn't Ashland play West Carter in a championship game? A lot of thngs could have happened, but Ashland won. Long live the Ashland tradition.

Oh, I've tried to refrain, but it's not in my nature. No way can you make me believe that the game couldn't be made up. It was bad enough Ashland stacked the tourney in their favor so that RH could eliminate all the competition that posed a threat to Ashland. And I don't even want to hear about  Ashland missed out on Allllll that gate money. If that is an issue reschedule, all this crap will do nothing but fill the stands in a makeup. Who cares whose fault, play the game. You know someone else who got shafted in this whole deal,,West Carter. They deserved a chance to play in the Championship if RH was gonna be hosed. Yes, I said hosed. No way was this not preconceived by Ashland. I'll finish with this. This type of thing will do nothing more than get their guts pressed out in the 4th quarter by RH in the future. I am gonna bookmark this thread and keep it until a couple of years down the road when the Ashland apologists are crying about getting shelacked by 45 by those mean ole Royals. You cut the nets down now, it's gonna be your last chance. :D

The only other school then is West Carter who could possibly be upset.

Anyone else wouldnt be playing in the finals anyway

1st Round is May 15th I believe, all day at the Ashland Tennis Center.
