July 9, 201313 yr What could be the bad news? A delay in the renovation or it fell through, or could be something else. No clue though. KSR just mentioned it the other day about the news conference and the attendees but no UK rep was mentioned, at the time they said it could just be they don't know who will be there but said if UK doesn't have a rep there it probably isn't good news for UK.

I'd be surprised if it was bad news unless it was a delay. More likely Cal talked them into hosting the 2016 Olympic trials or something, just kidding but lately it's been all sunshine and rainbows in Lexington.
July 9, 201313 yr I didn't say Freedom Hall. I said Rupp Arena. To be honest, from a fan comfort viewpoint, I'd take Freedom Hall any day over Rupp. At Rupp, unless someone has passed away and left you lower bowl seats, you'll be sitting on a bleacher rail with really narrow rows, not to mention you'll be lucky to get anywhere near the seat number on your ticket. July 10, 201313 yr My sources tell me there have been some delays in the renovations because an outside extermination specialist had to be consulted. Seems Rupp's Residents decided they weren't ready to move out just yet.

Same could be said about the Yum center. I attended the UofL vs Western game a few years ago. Vinny Zollo was playing for Western at the time and we attended with his parents. All of Western's players tickets were Upper level 2 rows from the top. TERRRIBLE seats.Talk about narrow, I was afraid I was going to fall out. Personally I was shocked that the visiting teams tickets for the game would be so bad. One parent refused to sit there.
July 10, 201313 yr At least Yum has "seats" instead of a bleacher with a number on it. And as we know, some rears are larger than others. I have found the older I get, the tighter the seat seems to get.
July 10, 201313 yr One of the announcements was the convention center is now looking for a corporate sponsor. That's not Rupp but the Lexington Center connected. From what I'm reading on Twitter about the meeting that's going on is that they have decided on NBBJ to do the new look Rupp. They say the plan is to make it Iconic. After looking at their site, I see that NBBJ constructed the new Pauley Pavilion, Paul Brown Stadium, and Lincoln Financial.
