June 20, 201313 yr In the National League the 8 spot is a very tough spot to hit for a hitter that struggles with the strike zone. Given Cozart's lifetime numbers of 161 strikeouts to only 41 walks in 213 games he would be an even bigger disaster in the 8 hole than he is in the 7th spot. While Hanigan is far from being a feared hitter he will work the count and accept a walk rather than chasing pitches out of the zone. He's much better suited to hit in the 8 hole in the National League than Cozart. By that same token, there's some that might say he's a better #2 hitter than Cozart. :lol2: I understand what you're saying about the 8-hole. But it's not like pitchers have been coming right after Cozart all season long (by throwing him a ton of strikes), even with Joey Votto hitting right behind him. So I don't see it being THAT much different, with the pitcher behind him.
