For anybody that is handicapped, or is close with someone who is, I'm curious...

 

How many times have you been to a business where there were no handicap spots available, and one (or more) were taken up by someone without the proper placards?

I'm going to assume if anyone needed one of the handicapped spaces while the trailer was parked there, the driver would've moved it without question. It continues to amaze me how so many in these threads keep making a mountain out of a mole hill so to speak.

One could also assume they could get caught up inside the building for a good length of time and therefore be inconvenienced. Not making a mountain out of anything, just pointing what's wrong to do and why. Being handicapped is tough enough without others making it more difficult.

I assume this means you never speed? When you do, you blatantly disregard the law. How come people don't have to respect that law?

 

And let me add that I realize the difference in the two. I just don't get the attitude of "how dare someone disregard a law" when we all do it to some degree on almost a daily basis.

Sure there is. To me it's hypocritical to get up in arms about how laws need to be respected, etc.,etc. when we all break some sort of laws on almost a daily basis.

It's human nature, really. Most people don't think speeding is a big deal, taking a handicapped spot is a much bigger deal. It's like the difference of showing you my middle finger or punching you in the mouth for many. I know, one is a felony and no I'm not comparing that to parking in a handicapped spot, just saying the degree of how people view it is similar.

I do know it's happened to BF muliple times. He and I have discussed it.

In those cases that it has happened, I can absolutely justify making a big deal about it. Have those people fined double if you want.

 

All these other times we've talked about on here, I just don't see it as that big of a deal.

All kidding aside, that is a good topic for another thread.

A question that I have (for Guru) is this...were all of the other handicapped spots taken? The reason why I ask is this...most handicapped spots are (obviously) the ones closest to the building. These look like the ones that are actually across the lot.

 

I need to do some recon to give everyone the exact number of handicapped spaces at SOAS but I think the number is 6. The four that were being blocked and two right in front. One of the two spaces in front was available. However, as the violator stated (or alluded to) he was there for a hour and with that in mind I would be very concerned all 6 spaces were taken at some point in that hour.

Cry me a river.

 

So let me get this right.....the guy that was parked there said the owner of the store gave him permission to park there to load and unload things into his truck as he was volunteering time for a worthy cause? Is that correct?

 

Was he ever asked to move his truck while loading and unloading and did he refuse to do so?

 

Is there a loading and unloading area at SOS?

 

Why is the guy who owned the truck at fault? Should the owner of the store who gave him permission to park in those spots be the true person at fault?

 

If the guy driving the truck would have moved the truck if needed or if asked then I think everybody needs to let it go and if the owner told him to use that area then the owner is the one at fault not the truck driver. The holier than thou tone is off the charts in this one. Not surprisingly so.........
