There was more gamesmanship from the Highlands Coach, Hector Molina was a 3rd baseman, not an OF. I guess it's all part of the politics.

 

I've only seen him play CF.

He started in CF in the regional tournament and in a story I googled from back in March he started in CF then...

As I have said a thousand times before, these things could be named at the beginning of the season rather than the end. I am a HUGE Cameron Fogle fan and no way is he player of the year. Sorry you could name many others that played more, because he was hurt, and had more productive seasons than him. That is not to slight Cameron, but it is a true fact. The players named are listed from a popularity basis and name recognition. No disrespect intended for any of the players here, but what we do know is Ryle was the best team in the 9th Region this year, followed by Dixie, Beechwood and St. Henry. That is what matters. Individual awards are for sports like tennis and golf where you play by yourself.

 

So what you are saying is that Ryle whole team should of been on the D1 list. Just give the kids who made it credit and Ryle had a great year. No reason to go back and forth on this. And by the way I think there were 7 Pangallo's that played this year for 4 different teams NewCath, Holy Cross, Covcath, and Bellevue if it was a popularity thing then all of them should of made it. The Beechwood kids that you mention deserve to be on that list no Q ask they were 1 out away from going to finals in region luck just wasn't on their side they had a great year. Just my IMO and I'm 100% on mine to.

Think I already said how great Fogle is...he was injured often this year though and also DH'd quite a bit. That is a fact. Conner didn't make the Region tourney.

 

As for the two Freshman-go back and look at the Beechwood threads, and Midland talk and see if they were not chatted about prominently. I stick by my statements 100%.

These are popularity awards and lifetime achievement ceremonies. Pangallo is a very positive well known name in Northern Kentucky.

 

Suchanek for BW threw 3 innings in the Region and was lifted. Stringer 2 innings 4ER and an loss. Also was 0 for 4 in the semifinals of the Region. Those are irrefutable facts. These are subjective awards. I watch a lot of baseball and know what these awards are. I bet the coaches hate making the nominations let alone voting for them.

 

All of this is why I like watching the games better then the voting. Stars shine at the brightest moments.

 

If you have to tear down other kids in order to defend why yours should be on the list then you are sad. Criticize the list and state why your picks are correct, but don't go picking apart other players and critiquing individual game performances.

 

I believe I saw this list posted right after the districts, so I'm fairly certain that none of the tourney performances are factored in. Overall, the kids picked here were solid all year long and deserve it.

Just for the record regional tournament performance didn't factor into this. The list was released day the tournament started (which is when I blogged it).

I believe it's June 28... We have Salute to Champions (those teams that won state titles this past year) on June 16 or 17...

Caple will get his turn next year. As good as he was this year, Caple wasn't better than Kramer or Norton.

I would like to see some stats on the ss for scott, i seen him play aa few games and had multiple E's and was told it was every game not sure how he made it if thats true.

Yes, but didn't Keubbing win in the Regionals for St. Henry? Didn't Cain get beat in the Regionals? As good as Cameron Fogle is, didn't he miss several games for Conner due to injuires in getting ready for UK football? Didn't the Cincinnati Reds have 8 all stars on the Natl. League all star team at one time. Didn't Campbell County only lose by one run in the regional finals to Harrison County and wasn't Tyler Walsh on the mound that day as well as his outstanding senior season? Mason Forbes is the Regional MVP and no mention of him on the list? Didn't Dixie do better in the Regionals than NCC this year (when it really counted)? Actually, didn't St. Henry do better this year than Highlands with Kuebbing on the mound? I have a feeling when the votes came in .... the season wasn't over and frankly still isn't for 16 teams.

TOG I know you can't keep everyone happy with the choices that were made. However, if you want to use the argument on merit alone throughout the season. Then truly most of Ryle's starting lineup should have been selected in this year's All-star game.Research all of their stats from top to bottom and you will see most everyone of them should have been included in the All-Star game based on stats..some stats are much better than those that were voted for from other schools. Including, the coach winning his 400th game this year and taking Ryle to State for the 2nd time in 21 years.What does a coach have to do to get the Coach of the Year Award these days? I am not belittling Bob Mullin's accomplishments at Beechwood. Kind of makes you wonder if these coaches voting really scout who the better players and coaches are on the other teams. On the other hand, if you want to keep it fair with every school in the region, then at a minimum there should have been at least one player from every school, even if that meant having 3 teams. There was a lot of good talent across the board, that was snubbed for their efforts. I am really questioning the lack of choices that were not made from Dixie's team and Cooper's team. I know Cov Cath always has their fair share of players in every years' All Star game because of who they are and publicity and favoritism etc etc. . And as far as the All 'A" ? A great tournament but it is not the Regionals where the 1 A teams play 3 and 4 and 6 A teams at the end of the year.

Name your All Star Team but wanna bet that whomever you mention, someone will say, why didn't you put so and so on it?

 

I have seen each and everyone of the kids mentioned on the list and those each of you have mentioned, most more than once and it's hard for me to say which one was better than the other but the list was voted upon.

How much of the season did Kuebbing miss being out with his injury? That might have been one of the factors

 

Who won the mighty all "A" tourney didn't Cain and Bartels pitch NCC to winning the Championship and not Kuebbing nor Suchaneck?

 

Hellbird, how many games did AJ Collins miss while on vacation during the baseball season? Could that have been a factor?

 

Tom, do you want the entire Ryle team as the All Star team? There were three already on the team!

Good points TOG, but when your question about AJ comes up, aren't there others that made the selection who have also missed games?

 

I will be the first to admit I don't know all the stats for every single kid, but if they all batted over .500 and had very few errors all season then I'd say it's a great list, but I do know that they all didn't bat over .500

 

I will take out my teams players so I don't sound too much like a homer, but leaving Mason Forbes off the list is not right. Mason Forbes who before the season I predicted to be one of the best in the area was a kid that most people on here didn't even know of coming into this season and I think not being known hurt him big time. I think just like in all other sports it comes down to name recognition more than anything. All kids on the list are deserving, but there are other players off the list if you are just going by this season are even more deserving imo.

As far as Div II Coach of the year, I do not think Ryle's coach would be elegible. It appears (team's listed) that Div I are larger schools and Div II are smaller schools. Can anyone confirm? If that is the case, I think Mullins is a no brainer as is Maxwell for Div I.
