For those that want to complain about little Johnny not making the list, maybe you should talk to their head coach first. Each coach nominates a few players to make the All-Star teams. Normally it is 3-4 players, not 9 like you want.

 

After those players are nominated a list gets compiled and then redistributed to the coaches for a vote. So the fact that a player was not included could have to do with not being nominated, not that so and so were better.

 

And as for Campbell players not being included, I believe that is how it always is and coaches are told that CCHS is not to be included on the list. I think it has to do with them being included on a different ballot (if there is one?).

As far as Div II Coach of the year, I do not think Ryle's coach would be elegible. It appears (team's listed) that Div I are larger schools and Div II are smaller schools. Can anyone confirm? If that is the case, I think Mullins is a no brainer as is Maxwell for Div I.

 

Yes that is correct. Coach Mullins and Max did a great job with young teams this year. And Roesel did a great job with his team as well. :thumb:

Wow History, pretty good support for being such a HUGE fan of Cameron's. I believe he did miss around 10 games total. Have you watched him play or reviewed his stats before making the statement of replacing him with many others, I'm sure they would be from Ryle?? When I read your statement, I had to check stats on MaxPreps. Cameron still had 76 AB while batting .476, had a slugging % of .895, near the top in average and extra base production in all of NKY. Went back and looked further, he had these kind of numbers for several years, since he was a freshman and he has always batted in the lead-off slot. The coaches got it right, Blake Tiber and Cameron Fogle deserved what the coaches voted. Blake has also produced these kind of numbers since his freshman season.

I do not agree that they should have been Beechwood's representative's from the 9th Region tournament squad. You could argue for Suchanek as he hit a homer, but Stringer I just can't see as he didn't pitch well and went 0 for 4 in the semifinal. Again-not putting anybody down as I believe Ethan is a D1 player and I am sure Coach Mullins nominated him. The stats in the region didn't support this choice as 2 or 3 others on the Tigers would have been more proper.

 

Always difficult when saying something isn't right-especially with kids-so I am not putting anyone down Old Sports Dad. I am simply saying if choices must be made then do so with the stats from the region games, not based on the reputation of the players, or the regular season. Vote based upon the criteria given.

So any player that is on a team that doesn't make regions never gets a vote? This is a regular season award. Performances in the regional tournament are rewarded with All-Tournament team selections. What the players do in the regions has no bearing on the NKBCA All-Star teams.

Maybe start a new thread. I am interested as well. I think the JR game is MON the 10th at 5:00 PM at Dixie and the SR game is after that (around 7:30 PM).

 

For Highlands, JRs are Joey Cochran (P) and Evan Allen (2B). I think the SRs are Quentin Murray © and Hector Molina (CF).

I do think Tyler Mason should have been on the team. He is the RBI and batting avg leader for most of the year I believe on Ryle's offense. The stats on Cincinnati.com haven't been updated for Ryle in weeks. You mention Forbes, I believe the head coach nominates the players from his team, there are so many quality seniors I would definitely start there. You have to respect Roesel for that. As the outfielders go.....Fogle's numbers are incredible, Thomas Baumann set all kinds of records, and Schreiver, though his avg. is down, is such a threat and a great defender. It was great Forbes was named 9th Region MVP, and has a chance to get recognition at state if he stays hot, but the outfield selected is outstanding. Forbes over Suchanek for Jr All-star? Suchanek pitches and it gives the All-star team more options, he has had a great year and a top notch player, that is a coin toss. Again Schriever has a big name, homerun leader and is a big threat. I dont have any problem with the selections. I am surprized Smith got the nod over Plvan.

 

Mason Forbes was 9th Region TOURNAMENT MVP, not 9th Region MVP, the two are completely different but not taking anything away from him!
