Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)

Featured Replies

From Facebook tonight about the game:

Beechwood lost tonight in the Regions. Sportsmanship and good character appeared to be displayed by both teams. It is a shame that character was tarnished when I over heard a Dixie parent refer to the Beechwood kids as "tools". Today I am embarrassed to know I graduated from Dixie.

Was this in reference to the Beechwood student pulling their pants down and dancing on the Beechwood dugout while Dixie was batting in the seventh?

The greatest game in the land Baseball, proved tonight why it is the greatest game!

In Football you can lose because of running out of time, as you can in Basketball, but in the greatest game in the land, you don't lose by the running out of time but only by making that last out.

The game tonight wasn't over until the last out was made and Beechwood couldn't and Dixie wouldn't, allow it to happen!

Congrats to both teams and thank you all for such a fun evening of Baseball.

Okay, I going to say this and you all know that all year long I have been on Blues side but tonight from my seat the HP Blue was calling a strike that looked to me to be wide all night long. Now I have no problem with it at all, as he was consistently calling that pitch on both teams a strike until Elkus came to bat with two outs and men on 2nd and 3rd with the score tied and two outs.

I believe with a 2-2 count, Stringer hit the same spot that Blue had been calling a strike all night long but for whatever reason, Blue called it a ball and then Elkus walked prior to the Grand Slam HR by Combs.

Great game, great effort by Dixie and congrats to Max, Patrick and Petey!

Actually, Ma'am... I am married to the woman that spoke those words. It wasn't at all intentional. nor by any means did she mean that. It was a poor choice of words and she is eternally grateful that you corrected her at the game. We know many of these boys and are good friends with the families. None of which are tools- but thanks again for making it a big deal

You know what I know.

What Beechwood player did that and where were the coaches when this happened?

I don't know if I should be flattered or upset with you. :D

I am a dude, I promise, and I didn't go to the game tonight. I grilled out, read some depositions, watched Extra and O'Reilly, had a bourbon (or two) and tried to beat up on Lipton Bash, Rockmom, and lawildcat tonight.

It was a student, not a player.

Also heard a Beechwood player threw a bat in the stands after the game. Thats just what I heard though, not confirmed.

Pls define "tools"

The term obviously upset some people....

Ok lets stop with the crap and get back to the game. It was a great one! Both teams did everything in their power to win this game and yes a student in the stands was a jerk but that is no fault of the Beechwood kids nor should it be park of this thread!

Stick to the game as it was indeed, a good old good one!

It was a student in the first row...not related to the team . It sure would be nice to have students supervised at these events when they cross the line.

Stihl are pretty awesome....just saying

Actually if people are so bent out of shape because of one comment made by one person, well they either need to get thicker skins or stay out of the public because life is going to be too rough for them ever to survive outside their padded walls.

I agree with TOG. Let's focus on the game. It was one of the best finishes to a high school game I've witnessed.
