If I were a parent at Lex Cath, I would be mad that these 3 kids got money from this fund that my kid was not eligible for. Facts: http://www.lexingtoncatholic.com/media/releases/KHSAA/OPED.doc In all but one of the nine cases, the school determined the student's mid year tuition assistance credit anonymously through the procedures that the school created for its Tuition Assistance Committee. During those same years, the school also provided assistance to families of non-athletes, as well, in the same anonymous manner. According to the KHSAA, Lexington Catholic technically violated Bylaw 10 in these cases by not utilizing the independent third part financial aid processor, Financial Aid Independent Review, in Rosemount, Minnesota. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051016/SPORTS/510160469/0/SPORTS05 The Kentucky High School Athletic Association approves six independent agencies to evaluate financial-aid applications for member schools. The 'clearing house' is a KHSAA vehicle. No students were denied access or availability of funds. Hence why Lexington Catholic parents are not mad. There is no 'at-large' or general scholarship fund like in a college. It is all needs-based.

Xman, it would be an astronomically huge mistake to do as far as the smaller privates are concerned. We (Private schools) need to make sure that we do what's best for ALL private schools, not just the larger ones. There can be no solution that causes an extreme hardship for one part of the group.

Rockmom, I agree with this but most of the people supporting this "prop" don't care who they are hurting.... They have lost track of the fact that high school is about an education and preparing kids for the real world!!

To just give up and give in would be disasterous for most private schools. That's not our way.

I speak only for myself and not for the entire private school community. I don't believe in teaching a child that if they can't win then try to change the rules. Life is unfair!!!...so you must go out everyday and give the best you can! I am not worried that you disagree with me....BTW...did you (personally) actually get to vote on this prop?

You are right Mom....I'm just frustrated....It wouldn't hurt the bigger schools....but we can't let the smaller schools lose out and just wipe out all their good work and tradition..

The others will have to probably rotate, and a few others may jump in.That probably wouldn't have been true in 2005 ... John Hardin and Henry Clay looked like the best of the rest.

Possibly....but if these feeder systems are established, it won't affect the Jefferson County open enrollment public schools in the immediate future. Kids that may have gone to T or X, for instance, would continue on to Male or Manual. Apparently we steal all the good kids from there anyway.

You steal all your good kids from other states and counties and that is the point. :laugh: If X and T would have just stayed in jefferson county then we would not be talking about this.
