There is no acceptable reason for a person to change a baby's diaper in a restaurant. Even if done carefully, it has the appearance of being unsanitary. There are other customers in the restaurant, and if I were one of these, I would expect the restaurant to manage the situation, or they would be losing my business.

Oh my bad, I must have misread where the customers changed their baby's diaper on a table where other customers were eating on.

Regardless of how many bathrooms and changing tables you have: Would you be okay with someone changing a poopy diaper on your kitchen counter while you eat nearby and then leave it to you to clean off the counter? I'm not dancing around the question, you're giving an unreasonable analogy and trying to get me to answer it. You say the analogy and I give you the reason it wouldn't happen at my house.

 

If by some chance it was to happen at my house and I seen it happen I actually probably wouldn't say much about it other than offering her a different place to change the baby (couch, changing table, etc.). Yes it's a kitchen counter where food usually sits but some of you make it sound like you all eat from spotless places, do you watch cooks fix your food every time you go out to eat? Didn't think so, therefore changing a diaper may be more sanitary than spit in your food, etc.

 

I disagree with the way the dad acted and he should have handled himself a lot better than he did. He made the situation a lot worse.

The customer was wrong period. You don't change a diaper on a table where people eat etc. I wonder if this guy changes his babies diaper on their dinning room table right before they eat.

I could care less that Starbucks doesn't have a changing table in their bathroom, there are a lot of places that don't. It's not a necessity, it's an added bonus for those that do have them, but not a necessity.

There was probably more fecal matter on the door handles than what was on the table after they cleaned it. If I were them, I would try to make my child out to the car if it were possible in this situation.

In situations such as this it's helpful if you're willing to step outside of yourself and try to see it the way others might. Like approaching it as though you didn't have a changing table, for example ...

While this was completely mishandled by the Starbucks employees, Mrs. S or I would have taken the baby out to the car and changed it. That's just what was done before places started providing changing tables. If you are that lazy, stay home and brew your own coffee.
