NKY JV Tournaments Brackets

If the kid in lf was as good in that spot, then why did he not play there everytime he played a position vs. just being the DH/C?

Ummmm, he did... Albert started over half the Dixie JV games in LF... Not to mention, Strong (the one I assume you are referencing as the RFer since you mention a varsity call up---dont forget Rottinghaus played RF last night as well) did not play a single game in LF. He played CF, RF, and DH.

I know varsity thought enough of last nights rf that he got to some up for a pinch running role with them(speed). I didnt see that to be case with dh/C/Lf,

Since we already determined who you are referring to when you say RF, Strong was called up for one game to be a varsity runner because it was a split squad day where only 10 players made the trip to Highlands and the other 8 stayed back to play Villa in a seed game. Now that the JV season is over, wait to see who is called up to varsity for the postseason then please come to me. I think you will realize I do know more than you about DH baseball.

your credentials would fit on the back of a matchbook I am sure!

There are a few on BGP that would beg to differ.

Same guy that said Dixies Freshman coach wasnt a clown? you get what you pay for and since freshman coach makes nothing, he is overpaid!

Do you know Dixie's freshmen coach? Have you talked baseball with him? Have you watched him coach? Because you are implying he is a "clown", I would disagree with you. I know him personally and I assume you are basing your opinion off of one Conner parent's statements and not your own. So please tell me what makes him a clown.

And for the record, he is paid for the job he does but I guess in your mind that makes him even more overpaid... But once again, not sure what you are basing your opinion off of.

Kyle Fieger (Beechwood) is the best jv pitcher I have seen this year.

I would say Fieger is the best JV pitcher i've seen, but he has pitched 8 innings of JV Baseball this year, and they have all come from this tournament. He has been a Varsity pitcher and JV Outfielder. I wouldn't include Fieger in the JV pitcher category.

From what I have seen, I think Ryle's Ziegelmeyer, Dixie's Smallwood, and Beechwood's Hyde have been the best and most efficient pitchers throughout JV Baseball this year.

I have not seen Hyde but was very impressed with Smallwood when I saw him early in the season. Good fastball with nice curve. He kept batters off balance.

I have not seen Fieger pitch but I have heard nothing but good things. Ziegelmeyer is a tall kid #18 I think. I'm not sure if he pitched against Beechwood last week. I would hope for a Ryle vs Beechwood final with Ziegelmeyer vs Fieger!!!!

You may get your wish with today's rains and the forecast for tomorrow. By throwing 7 innings yesterday Fieger would not be eligible to pitch in the finals on Saturday.

But doesn't the JV tourney have to be concluded before the Varsity post-season gets underway on MON? What happens if they don't finish?

Do you know if this is the kid that pitched when Beechwood and Ryle played last week? That was a great game by both Pitchers.

No, that was Tyler Smith, another kid who has had a stellar season pitching this year.

After Beechwood beat Highlands, i'm confident to say that they are the best JV team, not out of the teams left, i think they are overall the best. If they play how they played vs Highlands, they will run rule Scott and Conner/Ryle.

They are going to run-rule a team that just beat them 1-0 a week ago? And while Ryle had a very, very good pitcher on the hill that day, he was not even Ryle's #1 overall pitcher. Beechwood, while no doubt a very good team, will not run-rule Ryle (should that matchup occur). But thanks for the corkboard fodder to get the Raiders fired up. :thumb:

I'm not trying to bash anybody, all of these teams have talented kids. Beechwood played terrible against Ryle, and lost 1-0. Beechwood was also was without all of there Sophomores, which made up there 3,4,5 hitters. Heart of their line-up gone and they kept it to a one-run game. And Beechwood also did not pitch an ace.

In no way am i saying Ryle isn't good, i apologize if i came off like that. I'm just saying if Beechwood plays good, and has all their players, it could be a much different game.

I made a mistake- Beechwood was without the Freshman class when they faced Ryle. But, I do not know who Ryle had or who they were missing, so saying BW would run-rule them may not be the words i'm looking for.

Rest of this tourny should be fun! Can't wait to see all four of these teams play!

Scott won't be run-ruled. Beechwood is not that superior and they have been beaten by Scott before. Lets just let each team's play do the talking rather than making some of the bold statements where the season has shown some very different results in comparison.

Beechwood also beat Scott 12-2 at the beginning of the season. I'm not saying Beechwood will automatically run rule Scott. I'm just saying that if Beechwood plays at their best, they will win. But, if Beechwood doesn't play at their best, which happens often, they could get run-ruled.

I hope to see a 2-1 Scott-Beechwood game.

Boone Co JV...........13-6

Coach Meyerhoff has done wonders with this group.Basically same group last yr as Frosh, with exception of 2 or 3 kids, but fundamentals are like night and day compared to last yrs squad that only won 3 games.

I agree Coach Meyerhoff has done a great job with this JV group. Boone JV has several very talented kids who will make a nice addition to the varsity squad next season.

WOW! Thanks for the motivation, not that any of these three teams need it. I can guarantee that this quote will be plastered all over the dugouts of Scott, Conner and Ryle.

No offense to Highlands but they finished the last 12 games 4-8 according to there website if you include 1-1 in the regional only beating Brossart(twice), St. Henry, and Boone......

Lol. If those teams need some random dudes post on a message board as motivation, they have bigger hurdles to jump than the BW JV team.

Taking nothing away from Beechwood, but they only had 4 hits (all singles) in their quarterfinal win vs. Highlands. Other than Fieger's excellent pitching performance, I didn't see anything from the Tigers that made me think they were world beaters. Wasn't aware at the time that Fieger hadn't pitched for JV all season before the JV tourney. Although Beechwood is a solid team, having seen Ryle, Conner, and Scott play, the Tigers' offense isn't as prolific as Ryle.

I give the edge to the Raiders in what should be a good final 4.
