NKY JV Tournaments Brackets

Featured Replies

I would say Fieger is the best JV pitcher i've seen, but he has pitched 8 innings of JV Baseball this year, and they have all come from this tournament. He has been a Varsity pitcher and JV Outfielder. I wouldn't include Fieger in the JV pitcher category.

From what I have seen, I think Ryle's Ziegelmeyer, Dixie's Smallwood, and Beechwood's Hyde have been the best and most efficient pitchers throughout JV Baseball this year.

Interesting that nobody has jumped on this same topic in the JV thread like it was in the Frosh thread. If I read the above correctly, Fieger pitched 0 innings of JV this year prior to the tourney but did pitch Varsity innings? Given his stuff, I would assume he has been pitching fairly regularly at some level this season.

Beechwood JV this year has produced offense like no other team. I don't see any other team stopping the Tigers with that much momentum coming off a W against Highlands. Plus, the Bwood-Scott game is on a neutral field at Saint Henry. When the Tigers played at Scott midseason when they lost, they had lots of errors due to Scotts field. It was in bad shape that night. I say the Tigers win the championship vs Ryle.

And with the bats of Fieger, Rowe, Allen, Rundle, Burns, and Bankemper Tigers should hit the ball tonight.

Not sure what those six mentioned are hitting on the season, and perhaps we didn't see them at their best, but those six players were 2-16 at the plate versus Highlands... Nussbaum was the best hitter I saw... going 2-3.

I give a slight edge to Scott. Sowder is a fine hitter. Of course it all depends on who is pitching for both squads....

JV baseball always seems to bring the best out in people :lol2:.

Rundle and Allen had hits vs. Highlands.... That was one game they both hit doubles vs newcath and rowe, burns, and bankemper hit good same with nussbaum. I expect a close game but their bats will heat up tonight.

Taking nothing away from Beechwood, but they only had 4 hits (all singles) in their quarterfinal win vs. Highlands. Other than Fieger's excellent pitching performance, I didn't see anything from the Tigers that made me think they were world beaters. Wasn't aware at the time that Fieger hadn't pitched for JV all season before the JV tourney. Although Beechwood is a solid team, having seen Ryle, Conner, and Scott play, the Tigers' offense isn't as prolific as Ryle.

I give the edge to the Raiders in what should be a good final 4.

I can agree with this since they would clearly be the #1 Seed if it were a seeded tourney. Obivously, anything can happen. ALL JV teams run very Hot and Cold. Winning a tourney is having some decent skill, combined with well-timed quality play and quite a bit of luck.

If Ryle has a Another pitcher at the JV Level as good or better than what we saw in their Matchup with BW, then they would be the favorite. Of course, Miller held them to 3 hits as well. I would love to see that Matchup again, but I'm not looking past Scott at all. They clearly can beat anyone as right now as they have made it to the same point in the tourney as BW. Unlike BigPapa, I can guaranttee you that BW boys are not looking past anywone.

Lol. If those teams need some random dudes post on a message board as motivation, they have bigger hurdles to jump than the BW JV team.

I agree, thanks for the chuckle.

It is correct that he hasn't pitched JV until now, but he definitely has played more than half of the JV innings. The varsity had a Heavy load of games during the season and it probably didn't make sense to the Varsity coaches to use him up at JV so that he is available in case he was needed at Varsity. I believe he has pitched Varsity, but I'm not sure how much there. I would say his pitching was under-utilized this season. He seemed to be mostly a safety net for Varsity. The truth is that they may just be saving him and trying to slowly develop him into a number one pitcher.

Bwood/scott game moved to scott. Gametime starts at 8 pm

Ryle v. Conner postponed until tomorrow at noon at Ryle. Let's hope we get this tournament in. Has to be finished tomorrow. No games permitted on Sunday.

Saturday's weather looks dicey at best. Scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. I don't understand why they would schedule the tourney in such a manner that it leaves no room for a backup date. The tourney final is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dixie tomorrow. It gets rained out and it's over. Don't schedule off days during the week and plan to end this thing on Thursday or Friday night so that at least you have a possible out in the event of bad weather. Am I missing something here?

Since the ryle/conner game is cancelled, everyone head out to scott tonight to watch the other semifinal game. Gametime is 8 pm

Bwood edges Scott for the 2-0 win. Pitchers duel. Bankemper and Rundle threw a great game for beechwood to secure a spot in the championship game.

Really? Is that a tourney rule or new rule? I have seen plenty of Sunday high school games I also don't understand why it has to be completed before Varsity districts start. I hate rules that seem to be there for no valid reason. I'm anxious to here one.
