If Stoops, Marrow, and co. can build off the momentum they will be hard to beat if they match their recruiting success on the field. I read an Ohio recruiting guy say the other day that right now Kentucky is starting to be the second hottest option for Ohio kids, after the Buckeyes of course.

This is a great strategy if they plan on moving football to the B10, you all would be top 4 in the league. Not sure what that translates to in the SEC.

Better than what they have been in my lifetime and that's all that matters. I don't think anybody expects UK to be competeting for SEC titles.

May 30, 201313 yr I, in reading through the posts in this thread just hope that the U.K. fans (and I am one as well) don't expect way too much too soon from Stoops/football in Wins vs. Losses. I am very happy with the recruiting job that Stoops has done and continues to do as well...really pleased. U.K. football was the bottom of the barrel in the SEC and one or two excellent recruiting classes is not going to put them at the top of the conference. U.K. may move out of the SEC's toilet but "baby steps" fans (me included). As an old saying goes...."you have to walk before you can run" and we (U.K.) haven't started crawling yet but that just may be changing. I have said before that U.K. football would never rise above the middle of the pack in the SEC. I may be proven wrong by Stoops in time, he already has gotten some kids that I honestly thought that U.K. couldn't get so I hope that continues. This season should be fun to watch if no championships are expected too soon.
May 30, 201313 yr I think most UK fans are realistic. After a 2-10 season you can only expect so much. But most realize that in the not so distant future it looks very bright.

If he turns Kentucky into an SEC East title contender then obviously the Ohio invasion was successful (for UK standards). I also get JA's point of not being able to field a team entirely from Ohio and dominate the SEC, however Kentucky isn't fielding an entire team they are just getting foundational recruits that they need in order to build the program. They are still getting guys from Georgia, Florida, etc. Not to mention Stoops has also shown the ability to get Kentucky's best players to stay in state. There may not be that many but guys like Barker, Hatcher, Timmons, and Matt Elam are the cherry on top of the sundae once you already have a foundation built on out of state recruits.
May 30, 201313 yr Agreed but you know that there is always a few idiots around that will be calling for Stoops job if he doesn't win big within 2-3 years. I, within a few years just would like to see going to a better bowl than the 6 win toilet/loser bowls that they have been. I personally would rather not go to a bowl with 6 wins, maybe even 7 wins is too few but 6 for sure. 6 win bowl games are imo a special kind of stupid, rewarding mediocrity for me anyway doesn't cut it.
