May 10, 201313 yr I don't get this logic. The QB spot is already pretty jammed so if either of them were to leave they should do it now or next year because one of the other two current QB's, not Barker. I mean next year he's still playing high school ball, so thats one year. The plan is to redshirt him his first year (which is smart IMO, very few QB's ready to start in SEC as true frosh), so that's two years. So with two, maybe three years left of playing time for one or two of those three I see no reason why Barker would run them off. If one of them does leave its because they got beat out by the other two and not because of Barker. I am just saying they have 3 current guys all want to be a starter. 2 of the QB's they have are Sophmores. Another is a Junior. So barker is added and wants to be a starter. Lets just say Smith wins the starting spot. Leaves 2 guys out that both want to be the starter. One which actually was the starter half of last season. Lets say the redshirt one. Someone wont be happy. Then enters Barker. So I am just saying of the 3 guys that will be on Campus when Barker arrives ONE of them wont want to be a back up. Just my guess! I hope they all stay. Not wishing ill will or any inter-fighting. Just looking at situation.
May 11, 201313 yr Kind of but not really. I think the plan to start off is to redshirt Barker. If that's the case and a redshirt isn't used on Towles/Whitlow, they will be seniors by the time Barker is a Redshirt frosh and eligible to play. He could maybe take the job from them then, but more than likely could end up being his sophomore year when he takes the field. That is assuming of course Towles/Whitlow/Smith is getting it done on the field. If not he may start as a redshirt frosh and steal a year from those guys, or if dire enough may start as a true frosh which is rare (and IMO not smart considering the QB depth they will have). Either way those guys will have at least one or two seasons before Barker really even comes into play. I think having a year or two to be groomed before SEC play will help Barker be one of the best QB's in the land by the time he leaves. Towels should be afraid, Urban personally tells all the starters that he's recruiting over them and if they want to keep their spot they better show him something. Once Stoops gets to this level UK could be in SEC title games.

May 14, 201313 yr UK picked up a commit from Kobe Walker from Maryland. 6'3 200. Will play OLB. Picked UK over schools like WVU, Miami, and Wisconsin. 3*
May 14, 201313 yr UK now has 15th rated class with only 7 commitments according to a post I read on Twitter.
May 21, 201313 yr Author Ohio Safety Mike Edwards was on campus again yesterday, more importantly his parents were with him this time. Edwards still claims he is going to play college ball with fellow Ohio Safety Darius West (#13 S on Rivals) who announces his decision on the 30th. Looks like Stoops and co. are going to end up with a pretty solid defensive backfield duo. They more than likely join the mix of other talented guys such as Ashley Lowerly, Glenn Faulkner, and incoming frosh 4* Marcus McWilson. Looks like some good depth to me, for a change.
May 21, 201313 yr Author Edwards plays at a school that is a Bearcat feeder school. Not looking like he is that high on the Bearcats, the kid clearly wants UK whether his parents/coaches/etc. do or not.
May 21, 201313 yr Author UK currently has 3 players ranked in the Rivals 250 (Barker, Horton, Snodgrass), with the possibility of having 6-8 by the time it's all said and done. Never thought I would be saying that about UK football.
May 23, 201313 yr Who is in charge of recruiting Ohio? Whoever that guy is...is doing well. Vince Marrow
May 23, 201313 yr Author Who is in charge of recruiting Ohio? Whoever that guy is...is doing well. Vince Marrow Yeah he is doing about as well as you could possibly do at Kentucky. I had always wondered why the previous staffs didn't try to get into Ohio more considering the lack of talent in state. Just glad that Stoops realized this and brought in the right man for the job. Seems like I saw the other day that Marrow is ranked as one of the top recruiters in the country, he sure seems to be. That Stoops/Marrow Ohio connection has been tough to beat thus far. Only team beating them out of more top Ohio kids is OSU. Looks like UK may end up stealing some guys who may have traditionally ended up at Michigan, Mich. St, and even some possibly at OSU.

May 25, 201313 yr Author I wonder if the previous staffs were worried about using Tressel recruits against the SEC.... Even though Tressel always got smoked by the SEC anything would have been better than some of the guys the previous staffs brought in. The old UK recruiting philosophy of trying to unearth a team full of diamonds in the rough just wasn't that effective.
