NCAA Clears Lance Thomas & Duke

NCAA clears Lance Thomas, but not its own*reputation | One And One - SI.com

Seriously, you can only laugh. Unless you’re a fan of Memphis or USC or Miami or any other institution that feels like it’s been unjustly or inconsistently punished by the NCAA’s wayward enforcement staff and committee on infractions. Then you would probably be annoyed.................

The distrust the public and its member institutions has with the NCAA is due to this series of comedic layers. They flail away trying to defend standards that are, on a macro level, indefensible. Situations like the Thomas case, which create perceptions of in-house ineptitude and institutional favoritism, are difficult to navigate given the handcuffs the investigators operate under. As a result, the NCAA ends up looking silly when it has to let an investigation go.

Expected nothing less from the NCAA.

Beyond inconsistent. This is getting to be a sad sad joke.

The NCAA will never mess with the top dogs of college basketball, there is too much financially at stake for them to do so. Although Kentucky seems to be the exception with Kanter a few years ago. Also The NCAA will do whatever it can in football because they don't have the revenue stream in football like basketball. The NCAA is a corrupt business and they are overstaying their welcome.

"Nothing to see here. Move along. Let's all go about our business. Nothing to see." :D

I seem to recall the NCAA "messing" with UK basketball on a few occasions in the past, and I'm not referring to the Kanter situation.

Even this baby thought it was funny when Mom and Dad said the NCAA cleared Lance Thomas.

No shock here. Going back to the Maggette/Piggie incident, Coach K is the Teflon Don, nothing sticks to his program.

Gonna steal Randy Parkers thunder here
