I have not, but I bet Leake is hoping it's another couple of weeks. I was a supporter of Leake as a nice #5 starter but with Cingrani looking like a stud, the Red's would be very strong 1-5.

 

I said at the beginning of the season that if they were a .500 team at the end of April that I would take it and they would be in good shape.

Didn't get to watch a lot of the Reds while I was out of town this weekend, looking forward to them taking on the Cardinals.

YES!!! It's early but he looks like a young Cliff Lee with a better fastball.

I think you have to stay with him, I don't see how they can't. That would put Bronson as their #5 which is what he actually is anyway and gives you a lefty in the rotation. But money and options always come into play so it will be interesting when Cueto comes back to see what they do? If I'm in charge, Cingrani stays in the rotation.

I think the Reds have a good chance with Latos in game 1 but I am not optimistic about games 2 and 3.

I'm not sure that is best for him. He's thrown his fastball about 78% of the time in his two starts. He's got a very good fastball, especially for a lefty but it has averaged around 92 mph. He's not going to get by throwing that high of a percentage of fastballs as teams get a second look at him. Here's a list of starting pitchers over the last 10 years that have thrown that high a percentage of fastballs: Justin Masterson, Aaron Cook, Derrick Lowe, Jaret Wright and Daniel Cabrera. He's going to have to improve his other pitches to have long-term success--I'm not sure that he's best served doing that against Major League hitters.

Ride him as long as you can. He has had some success so the initial shell shock of getting thumped in the show is gone. If you send Leake down and leave Cingrani up and he does become more hittable because he relies so much on his fastball, you can always send him back down and bring Leake back up.

The next season he upped his fastball percentage to 74% of the time and his ERA dropped to 2.72. However, the average speed of his fastball jumped to 94.6. That's 2.6 mph better than Cingrani, and a significant difference.

 

Last year, when he went 20-5 with a 2.56 ERA and won the Cy Young Award, Price's fastball percentage dropped to 60.6% while his average speed increased to 95.5 mph. He also increased his Ks/9 by over a half a strikeout and reduced his BB/9 by almost a full walk over 2010.
