How old is to old to play video games?

Featured Replies

If you can hold the controller and see the TV then you are old enough. I'm 38 and will move on from the PS3 to the PS4 when they make the PS3 obsolete. I play about 8-10 hours a week of video games and I have been with my girlfriend/wife for a combined 12 years now. I know when to play and when not to play and I'll admit sometimes it was blurry and I played way too much but I have learned with age. I look forward to the day when I retire and sit around and play video games all day long.

Growing up during the Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Nintendo64, Playstations 1,2,3, Wii and XBox time period has had a profound effect on why I love video games. I plan to be a 90 year old gamer and I wouldn't have it any other way. As my wife says, I'd rather you be up until 2 am playing video games than out in a club with your friends.

When you don't enjoy it put it down... I still play a few hours a week, but like others

have said it's usually while the wife is at work or in bed. Girls night out for her equals

good night at home for me with beer and ps3

I keep saying I am going to get that game. I hear it is tight.

Figures you would like FIFA, LOL!

But on a serious note, studies have shown that playing video games help prevent alzheimer's.

My little brother, whose 24, is currently in graduate school out in Seattle at a school called Digipen and will be developing video games once he graduates next year, so I figure he gets a pass for life. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out for him.

I usually put in 2-3 hours a week playing Madden, Tiger, or the Show while I have a movie on my laptop or something. Doesn't interfere with my pretty active life and I find it rather relaxing.

At 53 I need to get in a few more hours of playing time each week then.

How do you watch a movie and game at the same time?

I was thinking about this the other day... I'm about to graduate college and still love my video games. I only play 2 (NCAA College Football and MLB2k10). I think I love both these games because I love building a "dynasty". It is usually what I do to relieve stress. Love coming home and clearing the mind by playing a game or 2 in my dynasty. Like some other posters have already said, it's about balance and knowing when to play. Just because I (we) play video games and I'm not 12 doesn't mean I don't run and exercise regularly and have friends, a girlfriend and do well in school.:lol2:

I'm the last person to answer your question since the last video game I played was PONG, but my answer is: as long as you enjoy it but it doesn't consume your life.

I know Godot was going to be the winner on age of current BGP video gamers.

I'm somewhere between Godot and PP in age. I probably play more than the average person, but figure as long as things are good around the house I'm good to go in the den and put a couple hours in a night.

The Call of Duty games are very addicting. Some nights it helps relieve the frustration from a tough day at work.

When your thumbs fall off, or when you can't figure out how to play the new games anymore :lol2:

More like play and listen to movies at the same time. But I usually only play by myself and not on multiplying, so sometimes I will pause the movie if it gets intense or something I really need to pay attention too.

Nothing like blasting some fools after a tough day at the office.

I need to try out FIFA. I usually play Madden and NCAA football.

I picked up 2011 the other day. I'm still trying to figure out how to score but it's pretty cool. I need to put in some work. I've played 3 games and have 0 goals.
