I went to bed at about midnight. It was a pretty remarkable exercise going through the overnight posts on my Twitter feed.

State authorities have now asked all residents of Boston and some surrounding towns being asked to stay in their homes. The local transit authority is completely shut down. I think I heard that it comes to about a million residents being asked to stay off the streets this morning.

Just checked in with mcson via cell. Everyone is pretty much quarantined. He and daughter-in-law live in Cambridge. Suspects lived a 10-minute walk from their apartment.

By reviewing the dead suspect, they are concerned that the at-large suspect may have a suicide vest on.

This is some high drama television...it was like a scene out of Heat.

Reporting now that 19 year old white hat hit/ran over 26 year old black hat during craziness earlier.

papa, is your son safe?

Not sure if the videos are SFW but I'd recommend checking out Live Leak if you're into raw footage, police scanner audio, etc.

Okay, I want to know why they stayed in the Boston area after bombing the marathon. That just makes no sense to me at all. It makes me think they weren't done.

They aren't done and/or they have a larger group of folks operating in the area. This could be the tip of the iceberg.

That's the thought, and why the Fed's were both hesitant and eager to get the photos out there. They didn't think they were done.

Apparently they were from that area. Well they lived in Cambridge anyways.

Terrorist expert on radio thought they might have some type of support in the area which would explain why they stayed in area. While the bombings were well executed he felt the events overnight were "amatueristic". Area they're originally from is largely Muslim.

So far so good.

Probably like everyone else, they're hoping this gets resolved quickly so they can stop worrying about the next knock on the door.
