Is Notre Dame in need of a new basketball Coach?

Featured Replies

Nicole did a great job coaching the Notre Dame team to the final game at state. Why the rest matters I am not sure, that is a question for the Bishop. I am told that other Catholic schools would do the same thing with the pregnant and not married situation. Obviously sexual preference has little to do with this situation. Bottom line is NDA loses a great coach. Just one of many things I disagree with from a catholic church perspective. It's hard to see where this coach has done anything wrong but I do suspect there is a contract that stipulates certain situations like pregnancy.

On the other side of the equation, Coaching job at NDA and no baby or... baby and no coaching job at NDA is a no brainer. Good luck to this stand up person and personal friend. Nicole will be just fine. Seems like it would make a great national news story.

Sort of. Being gay isn't a sin, acting on it is. If that AD is caught doing PDA, with another chick and isnt fired, then I agree.

So having a life partner would qualify as "acting on it," right?

So .....Are they going to let go every Male Coach in the Catholic Schools who have an out of wedlock child. Maybe that needs to be part of the interview process. " Do you are or are you planning on having an out of wedlock child" and while you're at it " What is your stand on abortion"?

It's my understanding the diocese has prevented coaches from being hired for not having an annulment before they re-married.

..and I have no reason not to believe you, but I know of 2 coaches that have had children outside of marriage and still were hired at Catholic Schools.

Oh, I'm not saying they have been 100% consistent.

Yep.

She is pregnant... and i guess at notre dame you cannot be gay, pregnant and coach. It's very sad... Because the AD is gay too..

Gay and pregnant, how does that happen?

See post #24.

And that doesn't stand for artificial intelligence.

Sorry, people hired by the Diocese know the teachings of the Church and the rules set forth going in when hired. If they deviate from that, they have nobody to blame but themselves if they have to resign.

But what if it is a male coach!!!::popcorn::

Then I say, if it can be proven they need to be removed as well. I has to be a two-way street.

Doesn't matter.

So let me ask this, say she's not gay, and single, no husband, mid thirties and decides she wants to have a child through AI. Still Wrong? Im sure NDA would think so right? and they would fire her right? Thoughts?

I understand the want to have a child, but knowing the situation she was in at ND, why couldn't her partner have the child instead of her? But anyways, congrats to Nicole, great coach, great person, and will be a phenomenal mother.

Yes the diocese has been strict on this or tries to be. I know of males who had to get an annulment on first marriage before marrying a second time or they were told they would immediately be fired upon second marriage.
