That it would... My point is, why bring up something that has happened to a kid in the past just to try and prove a point that you think the khsaa should do their job and rule a kid ineligible.

 

The reason is clear. The KHSAA has already allowed two players who were expelled to be eligible immediately despite their rules. So why do we suddenly think they're going to disallow Markel to play immediately? He'll be eligible despite there not being a valid reason for the one-year sit waiver.

Holmes has lost more kids over the years than they've gained.

 

Both McClendons and Avery to Holy Cross, Stephens to SK, Pitts to Boone, Covington to Newcath (came back)...hell, Jake smith of Newcath was at Holmes in 7th grade too before going to Holy Trinity and then Newcath.

 

Come on man. You know me personally. I could care less about kids transferring. I'm all about seeing a kid succeed regardless of where It's at.

Which I agree with. But there's nothing we can do about it so why continue to complain?

Have no clue to be honest...I know there have been kids in the past though who live in Holmes district but go to other schools because of different addresses. There are two who played varsity this year for another public school.

I think everyone should just cheat and coerce good athletes to come to their schools Because isnt that what life is all about? The KHSAA doesnt care so Lets all do our part to convince kids that the only thing that matters in life is playing on a Team that has a chance to win a state championship.

The situations that we are discussing are kids that play a varsity sport while in high school then transfer and become eligible. That is completely against the KHSAA rule.

 

 

I have no problem with any rule as long as it is applied fairly to ALL. Holmes High School and Markel should expect to sit out next year and then compete for Holmes his junior and senior year. That is what the rule says.

He makes Holmes an even more clear cut favorite to win the 9th region championship; which has made people from other schools pretty upset.

 

Listen, I have made it pretty clear that I think kids should be able to transfer to any school that their family and them choose. I've heard that the KHSAA does take into consideration the financial situation of a transfer from a private school to a public one even though there is nothing written in the Bylaws. I've also heard that the KHSAA gets sued most of the time if they don't rule in favor of the student athletes transfer request and they deem it not worth the hassle or cost to fight it in the courts. So whether you think it is fair or not, kids will continue to transfer to other schools and more likely than not will be ruled eligible to play without sitting out any time.

Jake went to Holmes in the 7th grade as you stated, but I don't think he was playing any varsity ball. I don't think that is a good example man. I mean I think this whole post is ridiculous, the KHSAA is a joke period!!

Then eliminate the rule. There are schools and kids that do abide the rules. It then becomes unfair to those kids that follow the rules.
