Pay attention, Walter. No one is BASHING the kid.

The state has rules. They too often choose not to enforce them. THAT is the issue.

Fair enough.

Update: Have confirmed with another person in the know, that McClendon will be/is at Holmes.

Will Andre be joining the coaching staff?

Markel McClendon has enrolled and started at Holmes today. Confirmed with Holmes coaching staff. Got wind of it last week but wanted to wait until it was official to post.

Big boost to next years' team.

This is a complete joke. There are no rules about transferring. It truly is about sports and nothing but.

A kid transfers and you have grown adults bashing him. Unless you know the reason and hear it from him or his mother, I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

Walter WAKE UP.

You're a Covcath fan...should VonHandorf be able to transfer from Villa and be eligible right away? Don't tell me his move isnt sports related.

If Andre joins the coaching staff, the khsaa has generally allowed students to play where their father coaches.

Yes. No rule says he cannot.

It isn't just the name sports either on these transfers. I believe there is a girl playing softball at Notre Dame this year who played for Ryle last year. We could make a long list of players in various sports who are moving from school to school without meeting any of the exceptions in the transfer rule or by simply moving from to another house a few miles from their old house.

From several discussions of the current transfer rules in multiple threads, I believe the bottom line is this - right now the KHSAA feels it cannot contest a transfer unless there is some blatant mistake by the athlete's family that makes it clear the transfer is all about athletics. Come up with any halfway reasonable explanation, and the KHSAA will accept it. Why? Because the courts will not support the KHSAA.

You hit the nail on the head with that. KHSAA has rules that the court will not back. It is ridiculous.

Andre is his uncle.

I assume him playing varsity as an 8th grader, he is technically a middle school kid and that is why it doesn't affect eligibility?

Von Handorf is an 8th grader, correct? If so, no issue.

Haley Smith is the girl who transferred to Notre Dame. Work with a guy very close to that situation and I know for a fact her move was for athletic reasons due to a softball incident.
