Beechwood Job Is Open

Featured Replies

Do they want to be head coaches or just hear coaches at certain schools. I would jump at any chance I could get. Hard to get first HC jobs.

Big mistake on Beechwood's administration! Michael was a huge part of the success while Shumate was there in terms of running the practices and studying film. He was a big factor in Beechwood moving to D2, wanted to play better teams, start moving the bball program to a higher level. Parents and an AD that is ignorant got him fired. Period!

I too am a Michael Miller fan.

Out of the Matt Bohmer mold, he has been loyal to the Beechwood program for decades and was instrumental in their move to Division II where he hoped to escape the duldrums of an extensive home and home schedule with inferior opponents for years on end.

I'm disappointed if he were cut loose by the BW administration after just two years, because of what if perceived to be failure to advance the program. He was stuck in a Catch 22. Football school mired in Division III basketball, but not talented enough to compete at the Division II level on a consistent basis.

If Michael Miller couldn't get it done for Beechwood, I wish the BW administration luck in finding someone as committed and dedicated to their program who will.

If it was indeed not his choice (and I don't think it was his choice) then shame on Beechwood for me hearing about it 2 or 3 weeks ago. I know ZERO people at BW. I heard about it because they were making "would you be interested" calls.

Come on Clyde ... stick to things you know.

I work at Beechwood ... I am there everyday ... and this afternoon was the first time that I heard anything about it at all.

Kind of hard to believe you when one of your sentences starts with: "I heard about it ...."

Reminds me of another situation that you trumpeted ... something about Beechwood coaches "scouting" a practice?

Yeah .. that one happened too ....

You need better sources.

I'm 100% correct on this one.

Confirmed.

Confirmed.

Well ... I guess there is a first time for everything!

Good to see that you finally have one Beechwood story right ... keep swinging ... eventually you will hit ... something?

Let me just say this ... unless Ben Zimmerman called you and told you ... then guess what ... your 100% counts for jack.

I appreciate your loyalty. You're wrong. It happened as I said it did. Again, confirmed.

Unlike the scouting Conner story where I (think) I said "I was told" I'm now telling you this is 100% confirmed.

I hear that Michael Miller will have some options as to where goes next. Good to hear.

So ... let me get this straight ... Ben Zimmerman called you and said this was true?

If so ... my sincerest apologies.

Otherwise ... if you are repeating something that you were told ... even from someone you trust ... still pretty sure that is heresay.

I would be willing to bet that you did not hear from the person who has ultimate hiring authority at Beechwood ... which means again .. that ... you are repeating what someone else told you.

Sure sounds like that football story ... just sounds like you learned to be a little more cautious with your "I heard" this time around.

If you call that loyalty ... so be it ... at the end of the day ... you have proven time and time again that you enjoy relaying messages that "you heard" ... which again ... means that at the most ... you have 50/50 credibility.

Not to mention .. if you have a source who was contacted ... and you know it to be the truth ... I would probably bet some cookies and coke that the person in question won't be very high on the list as this plays out ....

At the end of the day ... Michael is a good guy and a good coach.

I have no clue what happened ... and it isn't my business anyway.

I never claimed the ultimate hiring authority did anything.

I also never made any definitive claims about the football fiasco. Heck, I didn't think it was a big deal even if it happened. If I recall I said some people at practice claimed they saw a BW coach who they were familiar with. That's not a lie. They did say that.

BW reached out before they told their current coach he was out. Maybe that's common. Maybe it happens and we simply don't hear about it.

This person may not get the job. He may decide he doesn't want it. I can tell you that he's very high on the list - maybe at the top.

I'm sorry you're out of the loop on this one.

One more point, Q.

If you think Ben doesn't know these calls have taken place and what's been said back and forth either a)Ben doesn't control of his house or b)you're wrong.

One more point Clyde, (because you obviously are having trouble with double standards this evening) unless Ben Zimmerman told you this .. then you have absolutely have no proof that this was done.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hearsay (pretty sure that verification in this case--would be from the person who was making the calls ... not the receiver of the calls)

I admit that I was obviously NOT in the loop ... as I stated earlier ... I am there everyday .. and this was the very FIRST time I have heard about it. Does that mean that other people have? Sure ... of course ... and thank goodness I didn't hear about it earlier than today.

The point is this ... unless the hiring/firing authority at Beechwood told you that he/she was making calls to gauge interest .. then you are simply injecting hearsay into the situation. Justify it however you want ... it is what it is.

And just in case you are struggling to comprehend my point .. it doesn't matter if Ben knows or not .. what matters is ... you claim it to be FACT ... when you did not hear it FROM BEN. Again ... hearsay. (Again .. just like the football deal ... ). If you believe your source .. cool ... no problem. That still does not mean that it is fact. IT MEANS THAT YOU HEARD IT FROM SOMEONE YOU TRUST ... NOT FROM THE HIRING/FIRING AUTHORITY.

The real question is ... does it matter? I say yes ... because if someone other than the ultimate hiring/firing authority told you that they were contacted ... then guess what ... that person isn't doing much for their credibility (which is my opinion). I am sure your buddy is going to be happy about the fact that you have added another layer of hearsay to the subject as well.

And .. lets get a couple things straight here ... it wouldn't matter if this were about the soft blue Rebels ... I would still say the same thing to you right now.

Q, I will end it this way.

Your claim that it is conjecture would be true if there wasnt a person on the other end of the call from Ft Mitchell.

No ... I will end it this way ... your claim that it is fact is only true if YOU WERE ON THE OTHER END OF A CALL FROM FORT MITCHELL.

Game/Set/Match .... you keep stacking them up ... and I will keep on knocking them down ...
