Which I can understand why the people who did have season tickets through the 90's and most of the 2000's how they could just get to the point where they can't take it anymore. However I don't agree when people have said many times on here how other people should "get it" and not give him money to go to games and stuff. Its not going to change a thing, so if you enjoy going to the game and spending time with family and friends then I will spend the money. Not to mention even though people want to keep making excuses for it, the Bengals have made strides and shown some consistency the last two years. Each of the last two years people talked about how they will be bad, etc and keep trying to tell me that. I say otherwise and two years in a row they have shown what I have talked about. Now they still have to take that next step, and who knows if they will. However I have no problem supporting this team.

 

Nah! I had season tickets in the 80's. Got rid of them in the early 90's. Like I said, what I paid to see every Sunday, was not quite what you see.

For the people wanting them to go out and get free agents. Which guys do you think they should have targeted that would have made a big difference for this team in taking that next step, and how much would you have been willing to spend and on how many guys? Then also think about it if it would have been worth to keep those guys to possibly lose some of our own young talent on the team who will need contract extensions soon? Yes the Bengals in the past have been stupid not to try harder in free agency. However you don't just go sign people just to sign people. Especially if there are not really to many people out there that would have been someone that definitely would make the team better. There were very few that could have done that.

Exactly. Somehow Mikey is dumb and arrogant enough to act like they run things like the Packers.. Oh we don't buy free agents we build through the draft. Ok.. Reminder Mikey you took Dalton over Kaepernick who the Bengals raved about.

 

Just like I believe 4 or 5 other teams took other QB's over Kaepernick too, just like every team in the NFL passed up on Tom Brady for 6 rounds before he was drafted. You really don't know what you are going to get sometimes, just like the same 49ers passed up on Aaron Rodgers for Alex Smith. QB is really hit or miss and you have to get lucky sometimes. Bill Belichick might go down as the best coach of all time, yet he was once fired as a head coach and really didn't seem to be doing to much with the Pats until Brady came into his life. He probably wouldn't even be a hall of fame coach if they never got lucky on Tom Brady. However having a hall of fame QB allowed people to see how good of a coach he really is. Just like all of a sudden the Pats somehow became known as a great ran football franchise. One player changed it all for them, and was more luck that he was still there in the 6th round.

Wes Welker no thanks. If he didn't even up with another hall of fame QB, I wouldn't have seen him do as well. Now with Peyton he should still be fine, just like Welker wouldn't be a household name if he didn't play with Tom Brady. Dumerville they already have a guy who had just as many sacks as him that they just signed back. Now Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings would have been guys that I admit would have been nice to see them go after, or Ellerbe the linebacker who signed with the Dolphins.

 

However even with Mike Wallace, would you really want a huge chunk of the Bengals salary to be split between two WR's once the Bengals have to give Green a huge contract soon? Yes it would be nice to see them be more proactive in free agency, because they never are. However this year was not such a bad year not to be proactive and focus on keeping their own and having money to extend contracts of their young talent that is coming up. The Bengals are not as bad off as people on here seem to act like right now. Even the ESPN people have the Bengals ranked as the 10th best team in football going into the draft. However there were not to many free agents that would have really put them over the top this year, that would have changed much.

Welker is an awful fit in Cincy. That would've been a disaster. They have no use for Dumerville with Johnson and Dunlap on the ends, and Wallace has become the most overpaid player in the league with his contract in Miami. I also love how you think all they have to do is "go after" a guy to land them. For all we know they could have put in a call to some of these guys and been told "no thanks" or not had the call even answered.

A big part of Welker's success is scheme and how they(Patriots) have embraced the "quick game" that colleges have utilized for several years. Plus they have a great QB.

The play packaging and "concept" based play design and calling has the appearance of being very complicated when the opposite is true. They learn about 8 concepts and the rules for each and that is it for the most part. Your route changes depending on which receiver you are. This also makes it easier to go fast. The offense can call a pass play from a lot of different formations but the reads for the qb stays the same.

 

The West Coast offense on the other hand calls each WR's route by number, the 'ol number tree. This means the coach can call thousands of different route combinations and the qb has to quickly digest what his initial read is based all 4 or 5 routes called. Then determine what the progression is based on the play as a whole.
