I'm predicting Snapp to Ryle and Blevins to Newport.

 

You don't think Bowman? I think he would bring a lot to the table.

Ryle hired Mullins with no Varsity coaching experience and I don't think Demler will go down that road again.

I think it would be a mistake to only look at varsity experienced coaches. Alan's issues had nothing to do with not coaching V before he started at Ryle. Ryle had success.

Bowman was the freshman and JV coach at Ryle with the current juniors. He even stepped in for several varsity games when Mullins was suspended or ill, he had success at three levels. And I know for a fact the Juniors like him.

If I am a 6A school with an established program, I would have to be very impressed with an applicant with no head coaching experience before I would take the risk. I would lean towards a coach with head coaching on his resume.

Why limit yourself and lose out on an up-and-comer?

It's a big difference in running a program and coaching JV. No one cares about JV records. The kids liking someone also does not mean they'll be a good coach. It's easy to be liked as a JV coach because the varsity coach is the disciplinarian. Bowman may very well be a good Varsity coach one day. Next years Ryle team will be bare to say the least. That needs a veteran head coach who can see the big picture. A real bad first year can sink a young, inexperienced coach. That's when the players won't like you anymore.

Northern Ky has several solid coaches. Why does the new HC at Ryle need to be from Northern Ky? Maybe some fresh ideas might be a healthy thing.

Not I've confirmed 3 names that will be applying for the job or getting in contact with Ryle to express their interest.

As I said, he would have to be very impressive in the impression he makes and in the interview process. I wouldn't say no but no varsity head coaching experience is an extra hurdle he would have to overcome.

if WV got 30+ applicants for their job, I'd have to assume Ryle would get that plus several more. Could take a long time to get this one sorted out.

Disagree that they will be bare. Depth will be an issue but King, White, Bellew, Rice, and Stuhr is a solid starting 5
