I think sometimes the coach gets too much credit for getting kids to "play hard". We tend to think the kids wouldn't otherwise. Look at UK this year. The team didn't seem to play hard most of the season, is that on Cal because I think we would agree every team up to now did play hard even his teams at Memphis. Kids who want to compete play hard.

What exactly did he Snap Turn around at Newport? I think Nothing. Didn't hang any banners . I beleive Russell went to and won the region with Newport Kids plus a very good Demarko Foster who moved in the prior summer. Whos mother still lives in Newport. Not Second class talent from Cincinnati kids that didn't spend a single night in Newport.

 

Russell spent 20years teaching and caring about the School Children and community of Newport. Russell still attend Sunday Service in Newport, Let not mention that he took the Boys and Girls programs of Newport to the All A region title and State only Coach to do that in a public school maybe in the State. Ron Dawn has done this at NewCath.

 

Please lets not compare Rodney Snap to Aric Russell no comparison..,...Just ask former players of each coach at that School.

 

Russell NEVER condoned an Assistant to Date a Student while on Staff. Year two in Newport Guess who did. Yes Snap knowinly let his assistant date a Student only fired him when the Administrator put pressure on him...

I agree somewhat. But, I think that kids need to be motivated. That is the #1 quality in a coach in my opinion. You have to be a great motivator. And I am sure that the kids at UK wanted to compete. Caliapari is a great motivator, you put these kids at a lot of other programs, and they would have probably achieved less than what they did this year. I know it's not all on the coach, but it starts with the coach.

How many NKAC division III games did you see this year? Talent level there overall is down. They were probably pretty consistent 2nd choice for conference behind Ludlow. Had a 1,000 point scorer and everyone returning from the previous season. Ask anyone in that conference and I think they'll tell you that they were better than 8 wins total.

 

You seem to have a connection with the Silver Grove program.. Maybe you should get on staff and help turn things around.

You may want to be careful with what you post on here as I, too, know a lot about what goes on there and you couldn't be further from the truth regarding Snapp. If he is getting kids from Cincy to come to Newport, it is because they are moving to Newport.

Snapp didn't want to see them miss their senior year. Don't sit here and post garbage that Snapp doesn't care about the kids.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with that conference but I'm sure any casual observer who's seen a handful of NKAC DIII games in the last year or so knows the scouting report (hence its not hard to know that Dallas Dunaway has been scoring for the Grove's varsity team since he was in 7th gradee). It's 7 teams of small schools that have the same names and faces for four years straight. There are no suprses.
