The "new and improved" Enquirer

Featured Replies

I won't be supporting the Enquirer any longer; I was giving it very little over the past year or so. After shutting down the printing facility and going on to Columbus, too many jobs were taken from people that I grew up with whom had been there for a long time. I have not liked the Enquirer over several quality issues as it was. Between that and the people I know who have lost jobs due to the change, no more support from me.

I respect that , however, even those people realized their days were numbered. As one stated, "I'm a blacksmith and Henry Ford is bringing in the assembly line."

Mine showed up 2 hours later than normal. It was double bagged so it was dry. Not sure if it made a difference, but I tip my paper guy.

The format was fine and the content was fine. The shorter pages led to a thinker feel. Plus throw in all of the other bonus paper promoting the new look and it really seemed meaty.

I liked reading the new format, just waiting to see if it continues to get thinner and how good the HS sports coverage is.

I've had problems getting onto the free Internet site that comes with the subscription though.

Loved it. Why all the fuss. Much easier to handle during lunch. Also dry as a bone.

I'm with RE. No problems at all and I like the smaller size. More color is nice. Color comics page. :D

I picked up a copy this morning. Sports page was really good.

What there is left of it.
Richard Skinner gets the unenviable task of covering all of NKY sports by himself. :idunno:

They also have Marc Hardin and maybe one other I'm forgetting.

The paper, this morning, only listed him. They had several covering Cincinnati sports, of course.

Marc is still there.

Papers are driven by advertising revenue. For various reasons advertising revenue is down and publishers are losing money or barely profitable. Some mornings the Lexington Herald Leader seems more like a newsletter. Its a sign of the times.

I like it for no other reason that it does not have that Furniture Fair ad wrapped around the front page.

It reminded me of one of those free papers you get sometimes outside the grocery stores, but your paying $28 a month to get it delivered daily. Lots of color, but only for the advertisements.

This! :thumb:

It listed both Hardin and Skinny. They were in different areas. One was a beat writer and the other a columnist or something like that. Skinny was near the front of that section and Hardin near the rear.

NO PAPER for me yesterday, or this morning. Time to place a phone call. :rage:
