When is the last time a UK recruit/scholarship player that was nominated as a Mr. Basketball finalist not won Mr. Basketball in KY?

 

I don't see how you can be Mr basketball and not even get POY of your region.

Hawkins is in a 10 day window that could determine a lot of his future success. He is now getting nibbles from major D-1 schools and that could skyrocket with a trip to the big stage at Rupp.

If MC doesn't win the 11th, does his stock get any higher?

My son and I were talking last night that it could be possible that not one of the candidates make it to the state tourney this year. Yes there would be more upsets...but we have seen that can and does happen.

We both love it. As soon as I found out some high school scores last night, I had to run upstairs and tell him. Then he came down and we watched the Duke/Va game together.

Prewitt and Hawkins are the only 2 playing at Rupp.

They have a chance at meeting in the finals too.

Has a player ever not won region player of the year and won Mr. Basketball? Willis didn't even win 6th region POY, Troutman did.

 

Couple years back in 9th region...think Ross Neltner from highlands was Mr bball for the state and Justin Doellman from Ryle was regional POY. Politics at its best...Doellman was the better player.

I'm pulling for Omar with a biased opinion, but I really feel if you take Omar away from Mongomery co, they would suffer far greater than taking Hawkins from Mad Central or Willis from B East. Plus Omar's numbers are prob better. I think they are 25 and 10? Anybody know what the numbers for the year are for the other two front runners?

Per the Khsaa site, Prewitt is at 23 and 8. Hawkins is at 20 and 5. No assist stats listed for either. I think the 10th region being down this year will hurt Omar and the result of the only meeting between the two this year. I'm going with Dominique Hawkins.

Prewitt is averaging 23.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, 2.2 steals and 2.2 assists per game.

 

Based on the stats on in the KHSAA record book he will finish 3rd all time in career 3pt fg and somewhere between 15-18 in career blocks. He also has 2500+ points and 1000+ rebounds.

 

I would love to see a full stat line for Hawkins. I be they are highly impressive as well.
