Nerlens Noel Cartoon in Courier Journal

Featured Replies

No it would be in the Lexington Herald

I'm surprised it wasn't in the Herald-Leader.

I am a UK fan, a Noel fan and I have no problem with the cartoon. If someone does, I am interested in hearing what problem they have with it.

Kudos to Getslow for posting the second cartoon. Original Rookie must have missed that one.

On a related note, I hope to goodness UK refuses to play in the NIT if that is where they end up. It has zero value for UK.

I remember when it was published. We were coming off that hugely disappointing 2007 season in which a team with a load of talent just seemed to fall apart after Petrino left. Rod Council committed armed robbery that winter and things seemed to spiral from there; several more players were thrown off the team, others transferred and the news just seemed to keep on coming. This cartoon was published just before the 2008 season started and it felt like getting kicked in the stomach after we were already on the ground. Louisville would go on to a 5-7 season that began with the worst game I've ever been to in my entire life, a 27-2 beat down at the hands of Kentucky.

No harm intended by the cartoon. I thought it was good

I'm glad you were there for that & left feeling miserable.

... it didn't last.

Definitely a good find but most would have to agree that the Courier Journal takes it easy on UL athletics and any "issues" that may come up.

I am not remotely offended by the LCJ cartoon. I am more upset at how accurate it appears to be

He has a very good point IMO.

Wes Jackson, former Kentucky lineman, is the current publisher of the CJ. I'm sure he's got a directive on high to make sure and slam UK and raise up the Cards.

This is what the current front page of the CJ's website looks like:

CJ hates UK.jpg

So probably a bad day to trot that out.

I'm also amused that the posting of the cartoon cropped out where the artist wrote "get well soon, Nerlens."

Apparently this thing has blown up. There are people on my Facebook feed posting about this that I didn't think even knew the C-J still published.

Oh, yes, what wit.

She's one of my favorite twitter follows, she's actually quite clever, but that was weak.

She should've just told the CJ to print her twitter pic....The UK ring giving the ville a big "you're #1".
