We have both plus a Wii. I've played the crap out of all of them. There isn't any advantage for the 360 over the PS3 in game play and the 360 does so much less outside of game play. The "Monthly Experience Fee" as some have spoken about is crazy, why pay extra on 360 to do the same thing for free on PS3. Then you got Blu-ray.

 

I love the 360 and play it often but it is not a better system.

FWIW if HALO didn't exist the 360 sales would pale in comparison...HALO has kept the 360 relevant.

 

I think that is a huge part of it. I'm an XBox guy mainly because of Halo.

Halo had 0% to do with my owning the XBOX. I got mine because the majority of people I knew were playing online with XBOX on Call of Duty Games.

Some new notes regarding the PS4

 

 

- November release

 

- will support 4k video but not games

 

- PS4 will not play PS3 games

 

- 3D is no longer an emphasis like it was with PS3

The primary advantage of Playstation is, was, and always will be its deeper library of exclusive games, many from first party developers. It's not the hardware of the system - XBox ran circles around the PS2 in that department but will never even scratch 1/4 of the amount of sales that system had. The PS3 is more powerful, but that's a negligible effect. Most couldn't tell the difference. The free aspect of their online system is a bonus, but that's not going to be the major determining factor for most people to switch systems. It's the games. Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo, Resistance, Killzone, SOCOM, etc. On the 360 I can name Halo and Gears of War off the top of my head. I know there are others, but the Sony ones I named are extremely successful. That's what draws people to Sony. Almost every single game that is multi-console sells more on the XBox 360, but Sony kicks their butt in exclusives every year.

 

I say this as a big time 360 supporter.

That's the sole game I wish I could have on the 360 that's on the PS3.

It's almost a moot argument because we're not going to change any minds. People who like each system will side with that system.

 

To tell you the truth, when I got my ps3 the main reason at the time was because it was free to play online and I have been very happy with it ever since. I don't want to pay a monthly fee just to listen to some 14 year old curse the entire time I'm kicking his butt, I'd rather get that entertainment for free :ylsuper:

I have Xbox because the online play is way better, IMO. If you're not playing something online, PS3 is every bit as good as the Xbox if not better. To each his own.

PS4 will not block used games and will not require an always online connection.
