President Obama pinned the blame on Republicans Tuesday for looming spending cuts that may be triggered by what was originally a White House proposal -- while a former leader of the president's deficit commission said it's Obama who's on the path to a "failed presidency" if he can't tackle the debt.

 

The president spoke Tuesday at the White House, urging Congress to come up with a short-term fix to cancel sweeping cuts to defense and other programs set to hit March 1.

 

"These cuts are not smart. They are not fair. They will hurt our economy. They will add hundreds of thousands of Americans to the unemployment rolls," Obama said. "This is not an abstraction -- people will lose their jobs."

The cuts will suck, but I hope Congress doesn't fold and goes ahead with the cuts. After all it was the Presidents own doing with these cuts in the first place so he could get his horrible agenda passed earlier, now it's coming back to bite him and I hope the GOP stands firm because Washington needs to make cuts whether they like it or not. When you have 69% of the budget paying for earmarks and entitlements something is wrong.

 

Screw Obama, he needs to finally own up to his ridiculous spending.

It may not be so bad but Obama is trying to send our country to economic hell as fast as he can. Who wants to agree to his hypocritical rhetoric, he has to be the worst President ever. Why would Republicans agree to stuff that is only going to hurt the economy and country.

I understand you hate Obama, but I honestly don't believe he's TRYING to ruin our country. I also don't believe that the Republicans have any better answers. I do feel that Republicans are hell bent on making sure that Obama fails. I don't think that the Democrats are 100% right, but neither are the Republicans. This is a long, long, row to hoe. And there's more than one way to skin a cat. The country elected Obama, so to that point, most must believe he has the best answers at this time. In short order, we'll begin the ugly process of choosing the next President. It will be interesting to see who comes up with what answers then.

Well, I understand your fears. That's how I felt with GWB said we were going to Iraq. You may be right. But, I don't for one minute believe he is intentionally trying to ruin the country. And for the most part, I agree with his policies, so there's that.
